It’s a totally different handful ✂️ than a Mother’s Day garden bouquet from the old garden would have been. I’m trying to leave my new roses largely uncut this year as they develop. But I’ve also never had zinnias from seed blooming this early in the year, or a sweet pea harvest nearly as bananas as this one. So it feels right and good to have a new mix of early May bloomers for a new garden. 💖

Spring fever in the new garden 🪏👩🏻‍🌾🪴🌱. Daffodils, spirea, snowdrops, tulips and hellebore are at center stage this week, and peonies are working their way up through the dirt. I am checking for a delivery any day of a handful of new bare root roses that I can’t wait to get in the ground. I started an aggressive amount of seed trays over the weekend for the raised beds, and now begins the daily germination check.
