Each year we choose a metro area family with special needs children and raise money through our annual golf tournament. 100% of the net proceeds goes to help them out financially with medical expenses insurance house hold bills etc. This year we are supporting Mackennas fight this is a single mom two little girls and baby Mackenna has been diagnosed with NF1 and Brain cancer. In 2008 Gumpy's Foundation was founded to help local families with special needs children. A golf tournament was organized to raise funds to help these families with the high costs of insurance, medical expenses etc. Each year since, the tournament has had its own success for each individual family involved.
This year we are raising funds to help Mackenna and her family. Mackenna was born with NF1, also known as Neurofibromatosis. There is no cure affecting 1-3500 people except Mackenna. In Mackenna's case the ratio is 1-400,000 due to her being diagnosed with brain cancer caused by the tumors of NF1 at the age of 10 months. The purpose of this year's Gumpy's Golf Tournament and silent auction is to raise awareness of NF1 and childhood brain cancer.
Gumpy's Foundation was set up with a vision to be different from every other charitable organization. How is it different is a question that is asked a lot. The answer is simple, we need to put the money we raise into the hands of those that need it the most - The Families!

I really need all my facebook friends, family, co-workers, everyone to get involved and share this - I am trying like hell to get this out there - I can't do it alone - We need to help this baby and her family as well as others in our communities - I am asking you to please donate, please share, please spread the word - I am only one person trying to make a difference in the lives of many - sit down and take minute to read what this wonderful mother had to post earlier today - please help me find a way to start helping any way we possibly can

Ok friends, its what I feared. The chemo is not working. The tumor that was the larger one has slightly increased and the smaller tumor on other side has not only more than doubled but is now bigger than the the other one which was the bigger one. I'm shaking as I write this. I'm so scared and so sick emotionally for my sweet baby. Dr is going to contact St. JUDE again and get 2nd opinion. He said it will take at least a week to hear back. Dr said he is surprised and disappointed the meds had no effect. He said there are meds for nf in pill for but Mackenna is too young for them and there is no liquid form. For those who don't know the tumors are inoperable. I'm just at a loss of what to do

Metro Golf Junior League to Launch this Spring!!! - Parents get your kids involved in a great activity this summer! This will be a golf league for ges 5 - 16 and all skill levels welcome! they will learn the fundamentals of golf as well as integrity of the game, sportsmanship, teamwork, rules of the game, golf etiquette, and many other valuable life long lessons! - We are here to grow the game! Get kids out and enjoy a fun outdoor activity get the family involved! this is a game our youth can learn and play the rest of their lives! - More info coming very soon!!
