FLORIST WIRE TIPS & TRICKS

🌼 The higher the gauge number, the thinner the wire. (So, 26 gauge is thinner than 18 gauge.)

🌸 Single wire can be used to lengthen dry or silk flower stems.

🎀 Use 23 or 24 gauge for corsage and boutonniere work—strong enough to hold shape, but gentle on flowers.

💐 Wrap light gauge wire with floral tape to protect delicate blooms like orchids from damage.

🎗️ For tiny stems like Baby’s Breath, use a lighter gauge (24–26). Spiral it down the stem and wrap with floral tape for support.

🎀 For bow-making, use 24 or 26 gauge wire—make loops with ribbon and secure with wire to create a stem for easy placement.

🌰 Heavier wire (16, 18, or 19 gauge) is great for making stems for heavier items like pine cones, gourds, and pods.

I had the privilege today of attending the Celebration of Life for my good friend Frank Biddle (FBI flowers and Tradewinds) in Carlsbad California today. Frank is a flower industry icon and a great guy. In the flower business Frank put the business second. He put people first. He was everything I love about this industry. Brilliant, compassionate, and truly one of a kind. His wife Jennifer (aka the Honey Badger), and his 2 sons Joe and George are truly wonderful people carrying on Franks legacy. He will be missed but not forgotten!!!

With its bright green foliage and small, tree-like wooden stems, the China Doll makes an attractive addition to any warm, humid space with indirect light. Just be sure to avoid direct sunlight, as it can burn the leaves.

Care Tips:
🌞Light: Bright, indirect light.
💧Water: Keep the soil moist, but not soggy.
🪴Potting: Avoid moving the plant frequently or placing it in an overly large pot. China Dolls prefer to be slightly root-bound and stay in one spot.
