Just Announced 📢 Coma Cinema & Trace Mountains are coming to the Bishop on Tuesday, March 17 ☘️ Tickets on-sale Nov 21 at 10am

Coma Cinema is the longest running project of songwriter and producer, Mathew Lee Cothran, known for his work as Elvis Depressedly and The Goin’ Nowheres. Coma Cinema has been active since 2005, remaining independent and happily obscure in an ever dulling world. Coma Cinema is committed to fighting entropy by the alchemy of art, bringing thoughts to life in Cothran and his listener’s minds with a spirit of deep gratitude for those who have listened to and shared his music for many years.

Trace Mountains is the music project of American indie rock musician Dave Benton. Benton was formerly a member of the lo-fi band LVL UP.

BLOOMINGTON ⚔️ Sword II is coming to The Bishop on Friday, February 27th. Ticket details and more below

Local Pre-sale: Thursday, November 13th @ 10am
PW: Sword68
General On-sale: Friday, November 14th @ 10am

In a busted, musty house in Atlanta, where the basement flooded when it rained, the air smelled like mildew, and the landlord once tried to evict them for using the space as an “electronic rock band facility,” Sword II recorded the most ambitious, accessible, and electrically charged music of their lives.

Electric Hour, the band’s forthcoming full-length for section1, is a wildly catchy and deeply principled rock record. It’s about the beauty and terror of living under a surveillance state, loving people through extreme hardships, and finding strength in friendship and creative resistance.

Self-recorded over a 14-month period by the band - Mari González (she/her), Certain Zuko (she/her), and Travis Arnold (he/him) - the album marks Sword II’s first fully cohesive statement after years of working in a more experimental, song-by-song mode. Each member brings a distinct set of influences: Mari drawing from the emotional and sonic complexity of Joanna Newsom and Kate Bush, the grit of Lucinda Williams, and the drama of musical theater; Certain blends the theatricality of Rocky Horror, the raw energy of hardcore punk, and the playful psychedelia of MGMT; Travis channels the pop bite of Avril Lavigne, the glossy darkness of The Weeknd, and the layered intensity of My Bloody Valentine. Together, they’ve forged a sound that’s raw, unadorned, defiant, and grounded in real-world experience.

Just Announced 📢 Nuovo Testamento is coming to The Bishop on Feb 26 with Dark Chisme. Tickets on sale Nov 5 at 10am

The Los Angeles-based trio, Nuovo Testamento, is lighting up the dance floor with their uniquely dark italo disco-flavored pop hits. Following the release of the coldwave cult favorite Exposure EP in 2019 on Avant! Records, their acclaimed full length, New Earth, exploded onto the scene with its graceful touch of 1980s-influenced club elements, contagious rhythms and the powerful punch of synthpop. The release was widely considered across genres to be one of 2021’s best underground albums. With the release of their highly anticipated second LP in early 2023, Love Lines, Nuovo Testamento continued to explore the light, the dark and exultant personal power in what will undoubtedly become an instant dance classic.

JUST ANNOUNCED 📢 Greg Freeman is coming to The Bishop on January 21. Tickets on sale October 24 at 10am

Greg Freeman thrives on finding emotional catharsis and present-day resonance in the eccentric ugliness of the past. His songs all have a palpable sense of place thanks to his urgent delivery and evocative lyricism, which mines history for character-driven tales of violence, loss, and epiphany. On his sophomore LP Burnover, out August 22 via Canvasback Music/Transgressive Records, the Maryland-born, Burlington, Vermont-based artist uses the complicated backdrop of the Northeast to sing of grief, alienation, and the clarity that comes from opening up yourself to love. Explosive, unsettling, and undeniable, the 10 tracks here meld energetic indie rock with an ambling twang. It’s Freeman’s most adventurous and personal yet, cementing him as a singular songwriting talent.
