Located on 80 scenic acres in Bloomington, the Minnesota Masonic Heritage Center features marble halls, stained glass, a 105-year-old ballroom, and a jewel box theatre. The rich history of Freemasonry began in the Middle Ages and is tightly interwoven with the history of the United States. presidents were Masons, as well as countless other public figures. , and today Minnesota is home to 20,000 Masons and Order of the Eastern Star Members. Over the years, Masonry has greatly influenced Minnesota history and the lives of its residents, a legacy preserved by Minnesota Masonic Charities and the new Minnesota Masonic Heritage Center. The 47,000 SF Heritage Center serves as a working tribute to the concepts and contributions of Freemasonry and also as an intimate venue for performances, weddings, business meetings and other occasions.

This chair, dating to about 1880, was used in the card room and dining room of Oriental Lodge No. 34 in Cannon Falls. Handwritten in pencil on the underside of the seat is “D. E. Sawyer, Rassou (Roseau) Minn.”, which appears to be maker’s marks or shipping instructions.
