Many thanks to all who congratulated me on my retirement last month. For anyone who missed the original announcement on Instagram, please see it below:
"It is with a full heart that I announce my retirement after thirty six years as a caterer here in Bloomington. I want to thank my many friends and customers for their trust and loyalty over the years. I have loved being a part of your special occasions and being able to share my craft with you.
It was bitter sweet to pack up my commercial kitchen this Fall. Each pot and pan carried a special story. But I found good homes for most my equipment with some blossoming young chefs I’ve been working with, and I donated quite a bit to local charitable organizations where I know it will go to good use. While I’ll miss the joy of sharing in your special occasions, I know the many talented chefs in Bloomington will continue to feed you well.
What’s in store for me?
Well, I appear to be in the kitchen still a great deal - it has been fun to find myself with ample time to cook for friends and try new recipes this season – and, who knows, a cookbook may be someday in store. But, for now, I have been spending lots of time out East to help my eldest son and his family following the arrival of their second daughter. It has been an absolute joy to be able to help with meals and care and to be such an integral part of my granddaughters’ lives.
You will surely continue to see plenty of pictures of food on this account, but you may begin to see more smiling pictures of family and friends.
