Amazing ministry by Jewish brothers in Phoenix…
Meet our first, amazing Homeless Outreach Mobile Cooling Van!
Honestly, I can't remember the last time I was this excited about a new project!
You see, in Phoenix Arizona, in the peak of the summer, it's around 115 degrees every day. Our unsheltered sisters & brothers literally start dying from heat exhaustion and dehydration. Many cannot get inside shelters or anywhere at all to escape the suffering. But the City of Phoenix just gave us a $8,599 grant to buy the supplies to develop this first new innovative model.
This van will pull up to homeless camps stocked with 2 AC units powered by 2 solar-powered generators, 3 water misting fans, an ice machine, water dispensing units, & a canopy out the back with seating and shade.
While experiencing cooling relief and escaping the oppressive heat, it gives our team the chance to talk, support, & offer resources to our friends we serve to help them get services such as medical care, detox, shelter & housing services, etc.
This awesome project (AZ Hugs for the Houseless) is led by our homeless outreach coordinator - the great, indefatigable Austin Davis (here in the picture with me) - and is a project of Arizona Jews For Justice.
We need your support to build & sustain this. Let's save some lives together! arizonajewsforjustice.org/donate
