Just north of the intersection of N. Canyon Rim Dr. and Grand Loop, this cinnamon phase black bear graced us with it presence. I was able to get a few pretty good portraits of it despite it being a good ways away from us. It even stuck his tongue out at me😁

My youngest daughter spotted this bald eagle while we were driving down the Jenny Lake scenic drive. After making a few whistles at him he turned and looked at me, he spent about 20 mins posing for me before looking away and refusing to turn back around. At one point we just stared at each other, no pictures, just observation. It was one of the greatest experiences, and it created a love for photographing wildlife that I never thought I would have.

Top Notch Peak reflection in Sylvan Lake. I took this photo in the early morning hours, after coming through the east entrance of Yellowstone National Park. It has ended up being one of my favorite photographs of the entire trip. The water was so calm it gave me a nearly perfect reflection. This print is available for purchase on my gallery site.

“A Moment of Grace”

Sometimes wildlife gives you more than just a photograph—it gives you a story.

I came across this mule deer buck around mid-morning after hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park. Completely relaxed, he posed in beautiful velvet before sticking his tongue out at me, adding a little humor to an already unforgettable encounter.

Photographing such a magnificent animal in its natural habitat was a reminder of why I spend so much time chasing these moments. Nature has a way of rewarding patience, and every once in a while, it lets you leave with a memory you’ll never forget.
