Excited to be a part of Malakai's Bell Ringing Celebration
September is Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month, and this is deeply personal to the family behind Happy Days. đź’›
Our family once experienced the terror of being told my sister had cancer. After surgery, we received the news every family prays for: her tumor was benign. We were incredibly fortunate. Far too many families never receive that same ending.
Ronan Thompson was a little boy diagnosed with Stage IV neuroblastoma. He endured surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation. His family believed they were winning—until the cancer stopped responding.
His mom, Maya, shared the devastating reality of watching her little boy continue trying to play while his body hurt. Ronan ultimately died from childhood cancer. He was the little boy behind Taylor Swift’s song “Ronan,” inspired by Maya’s words about her son.
Ronan’s story affected us so deeply that he became part of the inspiration behind naming our own son, Rowan Thompson. His name will always remind us how precious childhood is.
Years later, we opened Happy Days—a business built for children to play, celebrate and simply be little.
Now, we can hardly believe this space gets to host a child’s cancer bell-ringing celebration.
This Sunday, Happy Days belongs to Mighty Malakai. 💙💛
We will watch him play, dance and ring that bell with his family beside him and an entire community cheering. It is one of the greatest honors this business has ever received.
Every child deserves more birthdays and the chance to grow up. Yet pediatric cancer still does not receive the funding, research or urgency our children deserve.
Join us Sunday, September 6 from 5–7 PM for Mighty Malakai’s FREE Bell-Ringing Celebration, featuring indoor play, a DJ, food, specialty drinks, and fire and police vehicles.
Registration is required, and only a few spots remain. Reserve your play block through the link in our bio. đź’›
