I feel so fortunate to have married the sweetest couple this week in the lush conservancy at the historic Moss Mansion. Love is love, and it’s always an honor to stand with couples as they commit their hearts to one another, especially during a week that celebrates love in all its beautiful forms.

Montana is unique among weddings!
* First, Montana does not legally require witness signatures. There is a space for them to sign, but it is not necessary.
* Second, Montana is the only state that allows "double proxy" weddings, where a couple can marry without either one of them being present. This type of wedding is most common among military couples.

As a wedding officiant, I get the honor of standing with couples at one of the most important moments of their lives. Over the years, I’ve gathered a heartful of wisdom to share. I would offer this piece of advice to every couple:

Always assume the best in each other.

It’s easy to get caught up in the little things—tone, timing, unspoken expectations. But when you choose to believe that your partner's heart is good, even in messy moments, it softens everything. It opens the door to grace, understanding, and connection.

Marriage isn't perfect. But it is powerful. And assuming the best in one another is a beautiful place to begin every day.

Before I became a wedding officiant, I spent a beautiful chapter of my life living in Red Lodge, Montana. Those years were full of wide-open skies, powder days on the mountain, and long, soul-filling rides through the prairies and backcountry of the Beartooth Mountains beside my most trusted companion, Merlin.

This photo is a collection of some of my most cherished memories with my incredible horse and true animal spirit. He carried me through seasons of joy, reflection, and wild adventures. Together, we explored places that took my breath away and gave me a deep appreciation for the quiet beauty of nature.

Merlin taught me about presence, trust, and the unspoken bond between two beings. His spirit still rides with me today as I walk a new path; officiating weddings and helping others mark the sacred moments in their lives.

Here's to the magic of the journey, and to the animals who walk beside us.

Some moments stay with you forever. This photo is from the wedding that changed my life; the day I realized I was meant to be a wedding officiant.

Meet Merlin, my beloved horse, who had the honor of playing “Father of the Bride” that day. Together, we made the unforgettable journey to the top of Sundance Pass in the Beartooth Mountains, where Lexi and her love exchanged vows at a breathtaking rock altar. As the rest of the wedding party hiked up, Merlin and I had the special mission of transporting two magnums of champagne in my saddlebags for the celebration at 11,047 feet. 🥂

That day was a testament to love, adventure, and the beauty of Montana. It’s the reason I do what I do. I create ceremonies as unique and unforgettable as the love stories they celebrate. 💕

Poetry is a passion of mine...
When I am inspired the words flow like a lifeforce and it takes me into the poetic "zone". DanWalt Gardens is one of those inspiring places and this is the poem I wrote for them.

“I do” in a Garden of Glorious Hues

DanWalt Gardens, a place to say, "I do",
With flowers aplenty, in every hue.

In April, tulips, daffodils, and hyacinths bloom,
Spring’s call to romance and a reason to swoon.

May brings alliums, phlox, and hostas too,
Hellebores and lungwort, a dream come true.

June's larkspur, peonies, and roses so fair,
Create a backdrop of color for the couple to share.

In July, under the sun, the garden blazes with color,
Hydrangeas, daisies, and roses, blessing the summer.

August's angel's trumpet and the hibiscus delights,
A magical garden, still bright in the moonlight.

September’s dazzling dahlias, daisies, and asters,
Bloom with Chrysanthemums, to invite a new chapter.

October’s garden lingers with the last-colored petals,
Ideal for the couple to share their heartfelt nuptials.

From November to March, this tranquil garden sleeps,
Preparing for another spring, when once again love leaps.
