On May 16 we are going to have a closing party in our building, we are going to have one of our favorite bands play on our stage for the last time ever…

And as I sit in our cafe and live music venue(with our bikes and tons of crap scattered around), seeing the sun highlight the sparkles on the stage- I am reminded…
-
That the beautiful and amazing .evansmt wanted the background of the stage to sparkle like Flathead lake, so he bought glitter and hand glittered the back of the stage to sparkle, like the lake- like him- like Maxs has for 6 years

Let’s normalize eating what our bodies tell us they need at any time of day!
-
The idea that breakfast must consist of eggs and meat, lunches are a type of sandwich, and dinner is meat and potatoes is antiquated, inaccurate, and not ideal for most people’s bodies!
-
Wild rice over greens. This is what my body needed post run this morning and it was a perfect breakfast- balancing, nutritious and super easy to prepare!
-
I’ve also been eating a ton of beans on toast (thanks Canada for the inspiration) for my first meal and damn it’s good!
-
If you need to hear it or feel supported in eating what you know your body needs, here it is- do what feels good and right for YOUR body, regardless of what “mainstream” says. 💪🌿💗

Happy being born day to two of the most insanely incredible humans I know.

These two were about Max’s age when we first met them!

They were two of six present when Chris and I said our vows.

I’ve seen these two grow up in the most authentic and beautiful way -

I’ve seen them knock on doors to get the vote out, and attend rallies to support women’s / human rights. I’ve seen them raise money for theatre and produce, direct and act in their own plays when their school was too lame to put funds towards the arts (sports were more important). I’ve seen them challenge some of the smartest adults I know ( .sacred.wild.inside ) I’ve seen them draw and create wonderful art, write books about sensitive lumberjacks, thoughtfully craft thank you cards, and write some of the most moving poetry I’ve heard.

- Our families have created holiday traditions together, we’ve laughed and cried and dined and explored together. These two, as teenage girls, let me join on camping trips with their friends, let our goddess group feed and nourish them and friends after plays - they’ve let Max spend time with their wonderful selves, and their friend group - they’ve taken Max on as a little brother and quickly become his favorite two people.

I’ve seen them grown into their love for the outdoors and adventure, seen them be the most amazing support for each other and their (freaking amazing) mother. I’ve seen them give help and ask for help, grow and retract and grow again -
-
but the most amazing thing I’ve witnessed from these two is their absolute devotion to being who they are - with zero apologies. And Coco & Frankie, this, is what makes me the most proud and the most honored to be your Aunt Jenny.

Keep disrupting, keep exploring, keep growing, loving, changing, listening, speaking, creating, and most of all continue being you - whomever that is and whatever that looks like every day.

You are beautiful beyond words and have changed, and will continue to change, my life and so many others for the better. Happiest of birthdays sweet loves!

Social media is out of control and has been for a long time.
-
For those of us that run small businesses, it seems incredibly difficult to exist without these platforms, and yet, it is often times soul sucking, exhausting, and can feel deeply inauthentic.
-
But how, in todays world, do we promote our business, our happenings, our services, our values and goals and desires to connect without this?
-
How do we let people know that while not catering in the winter, and while closed, we do things like get a tooth removed and get lasik? 🤪

Seriously though, any thoughts from anyone? How do we remain true to who we really are while feeding this giant disaster that we’ve all bought into?
-
And a disclaimer- I LOVE seeing photos and reading of happenings on here. I love seeing friends stories and updates when I know we are all too busy to connect on the daily. And I love promoting and supporting our business and other businesses through this platform- but I also very much dislike what is has done and continues to do to our humanity, well being, and overall purpose.
-
Open to suggestions! And yes, this photo is real- not edited, taken by my very lovely and amazing friend (and badass nurse!) literally moments after my lasik- we were laughing so hard we cried. It’s good to have real human connection. Good to have friends that make fun of your missing teeth and temporary blindness, and then drive you home and care for you through the night- I just hope these platforms don’t make us all forget that the really good stuff in life is the real stuff. 🤩🥰

Hi! We are so excited to announce the below….

As you all know, our family is the single most important thing to us - and with that comes a plethora of decisions and choices to make regarding how we choose to spend our time together. We’ve often discussed this and have been led to the decision to sell our beloved building that has been known as Max’s for the past six years. ✨ This has not been an easy decision, but it is one that we know is best for us and our family - we know, without a doubt, that the tools, family, resources, and support that the physical Max’s has provided us will span onto our next step into the new and reimagined Max’s.... 🤩

AND... the new Max’s is going to be awesome! We will keep Max’s as a business/brand, and continue to focus on elevating experiences and adventures through our organic and scratch made food - we are going to solely focus on the catering portion of our current business.

We are so very excited as our offerings will include outdoor adventures, events, music, pop up dinners, in-home chef services, retreats, bike clinics and more.... 💫

We’ll be hopping on over the next few weeks to share more about our catering offerings - for now please check out our website, (link in bio), to see a small snippet of the new and improved Max’s! 🎉

✨Most Importantly: WE ARE ALL SAFE! ✨

An update: our family was coming back to Bigfork from Eureka early this morning. We were heading home to cook and prep for tonight. We hit a deer and our van is unable to drive, meaning we have to wait for a tow and work on some logistics as most of you know our van is also our home. 💔
-
With this being said, there will be NO food available tonight as there will not be time to create meals.

🎶💫There WILL BE music! The show must go on and we are looking forward to filling our space with community, connection, cheer and damn good tunes! These are the things that are most important to us, and now more than ever, we look forward to embracing them.
-
Doors will now open at 6:30, music starts at 7pm.
-
A few takeaways from the traumatic morning:

❤️ we are all safe. Max, Chris and I and the doggies had zero injuries and are all in as good of spirits as we can be.

💔hitting an animal on the road is our biggest fear. It’s gut wrenching, sad, traumatic and so very hard to comprehend. Thankfully the deer died as soon as it was struck and we believe it didn’t suffer.

🥀 I scattered dried rose petals on the poor babe, thanked it for it’s life, asked that it nourish and feed the birds and other scavengers, and also thanked it for helping to keep our family safe during the accident. Rest peacefully little one. We are so very sorry that your life ended the way it did. I love you. We love you. 🦌✨😇

😊 we are so very grateful to have been in such a safe and solid vehicle. We are keenly aware that not all deer collisins end with everyone intact; it’s not lost on us that we are lucky, and we’ll be adding our safety to our long list of gratitudes.
