Home Craft Days The rich musical and cultural heritage of Southwest Virginia make this region a focal point of the Appalachian culture.

From its beginning, Mountain Empire Community College recognized the importance of preserving and promoting the unique art and music of the region. In 1972, the first celebration of mountain culture was realized with the establishment of Home Craft Days. Since that time, the festival has been an integral part of Mountain Empire Community College’s longstanding commitment to serve our community. No

w celebrating its 42nd year, MECC’s Home Craft Days features musicians and artisans from throughout Southwest Virginia, East Tennessee, and Eastern Kentucky. Demonstrations of weaving, pottery making, grist milling, wood crafting, basket weaving, broom making, quilting, tatting and much more are offered, along with musical performances throughout the three- day event. The 2013 Home Craft Days celebration will be held October 18-20 on the campus of Mountain Empire Community College. Home Craft Days Update 🧵🎶

While craft vendors are not on site today due to inclement weather, we’re still keeping the spirit alive at Phillips-Taylor Hall (Goodloe Center)!

🎶 Home Craft Days music performances will be in the Goodloe Center
🛍 MECC merchandise will be available for purchase inside as well
🍔 Food vendors will be set up outside of the Goodloe Center with plenty of great food options

We appreciate your understanding and hope you’ll still stop by to enjoy the music, grab a bite, and pick up some festival gear. 💙💚

Update 🚨

Due to inclement weather and expected high winds and lightning, all Home Craft Days music performances will be moved to Phillips Taylor Hall in the Goodloe Center.

Several vendors are available for food options outside Phillips Taylor Hall. Craft vendors will not be on site today.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but the safety of all participants is our primary concern!l

🎻 One Week Until Home Craft Days! 🎨

Since 1972, Home Craft Days has brought our community together to celebrate the music, food, crafts, and traditions that make Southwest Virginia feel like home.

Next weekend — October 17–19 — the MECC campus will be filled with:

✅ Free Friday Night Concert — October 17 at 6:00 PM
Featuring Jeff Little Trio, The Alum Ridge Boys & Ashlee, Tommy Bledsoe, Rich Kirby, Todd Meade, and Tyler Hughes.
Come early — free Dough & Joe and kettle corn start at 4:30 PM (while supplies last). Black Bear BBQ and Mountain Rose Vineyard wines will be available for purchase.

✅ Dozens of artisans & demonstrations — weaving, pottery, quilting, woodcrafts, basket making, and more

✅ Local food favorites!

✅ Family-friendly fun with FREE admission

🚌 Parking on campus is limited. Shuttle service will be available from multiple Big Stone Gap locations for $1 each way ($2 round-trip).
