I about choked while watching the news yesterday.

A TV station was discussing the heat wave in Europe. The newscaster said people were sleeping in their cars because this was "guaranteed air conditioning."

Really? I just paid $225 for an air conditioning diagnostic in my car. The compressor has failed, so the repair to the AC would be about 1,500, which certainly isn't feasible for my older car. In Europe, they are facing high fuel costs etc due to the wars.... that diagnostic test runs over $450 for newer cars and that isn't even a repair.

I just purchased one of those little portable AC fan thingee just to 'get by' in my car.

Incidentally, air conditioning is an industry that has much room for technical advances. I look forward to them making a small portable air conditioner for your car that really works. The little ice/water ones are a joke. Don't believe for a minute they will cool a whole room. They are nice just to point on YOU though.

I did use the spinning technique and it worked out pretty well. Not bad for being in between spring and summer blooms?...

People often talk about home as if it’s just a place.

A few years ago, a mother squirrel named Sonya taught me otherwise.

She rushed into this box at dusk just as a storm was moving in. I wasn’t watching the boxes that evening, so I had no idea what was happening. Within minutes of arriving, she gave birth.

For the next three weeks I watched her raise her babies. She only left briefly for food, water, and to check her surroundings before returning to them.

Then one day I saw her coming back from one of those short trips.

Something had happened.

She was badly injured.

Somehow she still made it all the way back up the tree and into the box with her babies. Sometime during the night, she passed away.

The next morning I climbed 30 feet into the tree, placed her three-week-old babies into a pouch, and carried them down. A local wildlife rehabilitator took them in and cared for them until they were old enough to return.

When the time came, those babies were released right back into the same box where they were born.

Under the tree, I buried their mother.

A full circle.

Those babies spent the next six months there. I called them the Fantastic Four.

Years later, they’re still here.

The place Sonya chose on a rainy evening became their sanctuary, their home, and part of their story.

Sometimes the smallest lives leave the biggest legacies.

INTV is showing an alcohol free bar that opened somewhere. Alcohol sales are down while NA beer sales are up.

I was just telling someone a week ago, having a cup of coffee with someone is as good as having a beer with them.

This message on Nextdoor made my day.

My only suggestions were to try Cayenne pepper or coyote urine granules? Aside from a fence, this might be about all he can do?

Hmmm. How would I rate Disclosure Day? Someone rated these like this:
Close Encounters, ET, Disclosure Day, and in this order.

I don't recall seeing Close Encounters but ET was a really moving movie. This could have been because I was young when I saw it.

Disclosure Day was a bit silly. There were a couple of scenes that did 'move' me. The movie takes you back to your childhood in one scene. It was totally over-the-top in believability. Disclosure Day does make you think.

I would give this movie a 6. I have no doubt there is life on other planets. The question is: are they intelligent enough to make it here to Earth? A famous astrophysicist said this is impossible.

Some scientists say that any life on other planets may have already died off like we probably will at some point.

I think most of the UFOs are military craft made right here on Earth. I don't know what to think about aliens, given that man-made images of them date back many years.

Your thoughts on Disclosure Day?

This is sad. If someone uses REAL photos for their AI flyers, why throw such a fit about it? AI slop they are calling them in a thread after a local restaurant used one. Restaurants are struggling to survive as it is.

I realize that data centers aren't good for our environment 😕 Do we have the ability to stop AI???
Yes, there is information we don't want to give AI access to.

I used AI recently to send a very important message to someone. Basically, I gave AI everything I WANTED to say and it put it together for me in a tactful, fair and nice tone. I was glad to use it for such.
