We’re excited to share that a beautiful mural is in progress at the north end of the Mother Goose Barn at the Bethlehem Fairgrounds! If you’ve driven by recently, you may have already seen local artist Makenzie Steiner at work. More about the artist behind the mural:
Local Artist Makenzie Steiner Creates Mural Celebrating the Bethlehem Fair
Makenzie Steiner is a local artist and muralist currently creating a beautiful new mural celebrating the Bethlehem community’s favorite parts of the Bethlehem Fair for the Bethlehem Fair Society. The project is especially meaningful to Kenzie, a young artist from Bethlehem, Connecticut.
Kenzie graduated from Nonnewaug High School before earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration from the University of Hartford’s Hartford Art School.
“This project and opportunity is definitely a pinch-me moment. I’m incredibly excited to be creating such a beautiful mural for Bethlehem, as this is the town where I had the privilege of growing up. I look forward to the Bethlehem Fair every year. Maybe I’m biased, but I truly do think that this fair is one of the best fairs in the Northwest corner of Connecticut. I’m thrilled for everyone to see the mural this year as we commemorate the Bethlehem Fair’s 101st year, and I’m so excited for the mural to become a focal point for the town.”
Kenzie has been working professionally as an artist since 2015 and has been a full-time artist and muralist since 2019. Her murals can be found at locations throughout Connecticut, including Nash in the Ville in Terryville, The Bevy Co. in Southbury, Good News Restaurant in Woodbury, Mercato Italian Kitchen & Bar in Canton, The Hub Pizza Bar in Naugatuck, and Toast & Company in Litchfield, with many more projects on the horizon as she continues to grow.
You can follow Kenzie’s mural work on Instagram at . Her new website, kenzieevecreative.com, will also be launching soon.
The mural project was made possible through the generosity of local sponsors and celebrates the agricultural character of the fair and the community support that has helped the Bethlehem Fair thrive for more than a century.
The Bethlehem Fair Society and Kenzie will be hosting an unveiling at 6 pm Friday during the fair.
Come celebrate the 101st Bethlehem Fair, and see the completed mural in person on September 11th, 12th, and 13th!
