Trevor and Kristen had the most absolutely perfect day! I know I say that all the time, but this one—weather-wise—really was amazing!
This was our first big wedding in the barn of the season, and I loved seeing everything come together over there again. The crocks with pampas grass are always a favorite, along with the arrangements on the wh***ey barrels as guests enter. We redid our hexagon backdrop a while back, and this was the first time we had used it at the barn. I have to say, it looked pretty great! All of the wood accents over there are just some of my favorites.
The week definitely did NOT start out the way I had hoped. We received more than three inches of rain, and to say that made me nervous would be an understatement! Our reception parking is all grass, and after the rain we had received the week before, it hadn’t even had a chance to recover before we got hit again.
So… Plan B!
The only solution we could come up with was valet parking. There was enough room for the wedding party to park close on the concrete, but everyone else needed to park across the highway on our farm. We had five wonderful people show up to help move cars, while Jeremy kept everything organized and running smoothly. And you know what? It worked perfectly! We are SO appreciative of everyone who was willing to jump in and help us keep things moving. While I certainly hope we never have to use that plan again, at least now we know it works! 😆
Our other goal was to keep everyone on a hard surface for the entire evening so no one had to walk through wet grass and ruin their shoes. That meant changing up the way we served dinner and setting everything up down at the pavilion. It ended up working really well and kept everyone on one level. SweetBabyB’s had a great setup, our double pop-up provided plenty of coverage, and the food was delicious!
For the tables, we mixed and matched runners and cloth napkins, and I just love how fun that look is for fall. The napkins reminded me of fall leaves scattered across the gold chargers. And yes… there were those gold touch lamps again! They were accompanied by candles in gold candlesticks and votive cups, while our favorite sawgrass greenery added that little extra touch that seems to elevate the tables every single time.
Their cupcake wall, filled with pictures of the couple, was such a fun way to serve dessert. I also loved using our wood head table to bring in another element and texture. Our classic greenery photo backdrop on the pool house wall, finished with the Bakers’ neon sign, gave guests the perfect spot for pictures as they arrived or before heading home.
Kinslee with The Tipsee Trailer kept the drinks flowing at the bar all evening, and Little Clara’s Garden created the girls’ bouquets. The colors and design were absolutely perfect!
Kristen, Trevor, and their families were truly some of the easiest people to please. They were so gracious and appreciative of every little detail that crossed my mind and that we put into place for their day. There’s something so special about meeting new people through this business and creating relationships that I might never have had otherwise. But there’s also something equally special about getting to be part of these days for families whose kids I’ve watched grow up. God has a way of making both incredibly special to my heart.
And that brings me to my very favorite part of the entire day.
Trevor’s mom and I have known each other for a very long time. Saturday morning, I think both of our nerves were running a little high. She asked if I would pray with her about the day, and the two of us had the opportunity to stand together and give it all to God.
Later that evening, we talked about that prayer and how beautifully God had answered it. After all the rain, all the worrying, all the changing of plans and figuring things out, He gave us the most beautiful day for these two kids to get married.
Even now, thinking about that moment brings tears to my eyes. Of all the beautiful details from the day, that quiet moment of prayer with her is something I will never forget. 🤍
Trevor and Kristen, you two are truly the sweetest! Thank you so much for trusting me with such an important day in your lives. It was an absolute honor to serve you and your families.
