So I am teaching this morning and I am trying to look over my notes one last time… but it’s difficult. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Granddaughter Maggie keeps smiling at me and making cute baby sounds.
I am sure the Lord understands this distraction. 😃

"𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙥𝙝𝙚𝙘𝙮 𝙞𝙣 𝙎𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙨?" 𝙎𝙡𝙤𝙬 𝙔𝙖 𝙍𝙤𝙡𝙡 𝙊𝙣 𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨...
You have probably seen the posts showing storms Rachel, Simon, and Isaias, making a “message” that is: “Sheep, Listen, Yahweh is salvation.” I have seen people posting, calling it “prophetic,” and all that.
Umm, that is 𝙏𝙍𝙐𝙏𝙃 𝙒𝙀 𝘼𝙇𝙍𝙀𝘼𝘿𝙔 𝙋𝙊𝙎𝙎𝙀𝙎𝙎 from God's Word. We didn’t need coincidental names from storms to tell us that. We don’t need radar, cardinals, tea leaves, or any other sign to hear from God.
Hebrews 1:1-2 reminds us that God has already spoken completely and finally through His Son. My friends, 𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙥𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙤𝙩𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙚𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙮 𝙎𝙐𝙁𝙁𝙄𝘾𝙄𝙀𝙉𝙏! Furthermore, the interpreting of omens is forbidden (see Deuteronomy 18:10). Trying to decode some secular storm-naming list edges awful close to superstition.
The wild irony here is that the message people are looking for or celebrating that some meteorological act has given, 𝙞𝙨 𝙘𝙧𝙮𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝙘𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙈𝘼𝙉𝙔 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙥𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚. In fact, it is the main thread from the Old Testament to the New Testament, literally Genesis to Revelation, and expounded on all throughout.
𝘽𝙚𝙝𝙤𝙡𝙙, 𝙂𝙤𝙙 𝙞𝙨 𝙢𝙮 𝙨𝙖𝙡𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣; 𝙄 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙨𝙩, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙗𝙚 𝙖𝙛𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙙; 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙇𝙊𝙍𝘿 𝙂𝙊𝘿 𝙞𝙨 𝙢𝙮 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙩𝙝 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙢𝙮 𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙜, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙝𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙨 𝙗𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙢𝙮 𝙨𝙖𝙡𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣. -Isaiah 12:2
If you want to hear God speak, you don't need to decode the news cycle. Just open your Bible. Let's stay anchored in the Word.

Kid rock recently announced that he is releasing a new album entitled “Halfway 2 Jesus.” However, in the process he revealed a tragic misunderstanding of grace, repentance, and salvation in a recent interview.
"𝑰 𝒅𝒊𝒅𝒏'𝒕 𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒔𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒅... 𝑰 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝑰'𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒍𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒃𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝑮𝒐𝒅." -Kid Rock
In the comment section of the Fox News post about this, I saw a widespread confusion that permeates our culture concerning salvation. Some are apparently trusting in works and rituals, saying:
"𝐼𝑓 𝑑𝑟𝑖𝑛𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑎 𝑏𝑒𝑒𝑟... 𝑖𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑠𝑡 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑑𝑜, 𝐼 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑘 𝑦𝑜𝑢’𝑙𝑙 𝑏𝑒 𝑎𝑙𝑟𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡," and "𝑊𝑒 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑏𝑎𝑝𝑡𝑖𝑧𝑒𝑑 𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑜 𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑐ℎ𝑢𝑟𝑐ℎ 𝑎𝑠 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑖𝑒𝑠... 𝑠𝑜 𝑠𝑡𝑜𝑝 𝑤 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑏𝑜𝑟𝑛 𝑎𝑔𝑎𝑖𝑛 𝑠𝑎𝑣𝑖𝑛𝑔." Another commenter claimed, "𝑂𝑛𝑒 𝑑𝑜𝑒𝑠𝑛’𝑡 𝑛𝑒𝑒𝑑 𝑡𝑜 𝑏𝑒 𝑏𝑜𝑟𝑛 𝑎𝑔𝑎𝑖𝑛."
There were a few people got it right, commenting things like "‘𝐼’𝑚 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑠𝑎𝑣𝑒𝑑’ & ‘𝐼’𝑚 𝑟𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝐺𝑜𝑑’ 𝑖𝑠 𝑎𝑛 𝑜𝑥𝑦𝑚𝑜𝑟𝑜𝑛," and reminding people of Christ’s own words: "𝑌𝑜𝑢 𝑚𝑢𝑠𝑡 𝑏𝑒 𝑏𝑜𝑟𝑛 𝑎𝑔𝑎𝑖𝑛."
As believers, we absolutely cannot blur the lines when it comes to the gospel. Nobody is born “right with God” (Romans 3:10-11) and every person is in need of forgiveness of sin. Jesus left no middle ground on these things:
"𝑻𝒓𝒖𝒍𝒚, 𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒍𝒚, 𝑰 𝒔𝒂𝒚 𝒕𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖, 𝒖𝒏𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒃𝒐𝒓𝒏 𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏 𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒔𝒆𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒅𝒐𝒎 𝒐𝒇 𝑮𝒐𝒅." -John 3:3
Salvation isn’t about being a good person, getting to heaven on your own merits, or relying on church rites. It is the sovereign work of God in the life of a person. His grace and mercy applied to a sinner, granting repentance and imputing the righteousness of Christ through faith alone.
Let us always be steadfast in proclaiming the true gospel, and as believers, we should pray for Kid Rock. He is a very talented man, who, like all of us, needs the Lord to pen his eyes and grant him true repentance and bring him 𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗪𝗔𝗬 to Jesus by His grace.

𝑵𝒐𝒕 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒃𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒔, 𝒎𝒚 𝒃𝒓𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒔, 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒘𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒐 𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒉 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒃𝒆 𝒋𝒖𝒅𝒈𝒆𝒅 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒈𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒕𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔." -James 3:1
This past week while preparing to teach Adult Bible Study on Sunday morning, I felt the weight of standing to declare, “𝑇ℎ𝑢𝑠 𝑠𝑎𝑦𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐿𝑜𝑟𝑑,” and exegeting the text for the morning. I always feel that burden but this week it was more prominent in my mind than normal.
Being one of our teachers at church is definitely not a “right,” but is a responsibility with great weight. I prayed that God would lead me to exegete the message accurately, then be able to communicate it in a crystal-clear manner.
This is obviously not something we can do on our own merits. The challenge is real, the stakes are high, and we must not handle the Word of God in a reckless manner.
The brothers and sisters in Christ at church are faithful students of the Word. They add in the discussion time in such a way that the teacher learns as well. Lindsay and I appreciate them more than they know.

Psalm 113 is the first Psalm in the collection known as the "𝐄𝐠𝐲𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐥," which celebrates Israel's deliverance from Egypt. These Psalms were used in Jewish liturgy at the great religious festivals.
This is an awesome scripture to remind us that truly, God's name is to be praised from sunrise to sunset every day, for he provided salvation for the Israelites which pointed forward in time to our God of Salvation who provided Jesus!
May His name be praised every day, forevermore!

It is a very slippery slope, and one that modern Christendom has fallen into across denominational lines: casually claiming that God said something to them. Even those outside the church are speaking on God's behalf! 𝑵𝒐𝒘, 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒄𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒓, 𝑮𝒐𝒅 𝑫𝑶𝑬𝑺 𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒂𝒌 𝒕𝒐 𝒖𝒔, 𝒊𝒕'𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒒𝒖𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝑯𝑶𝑾 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒈-𝒖𝒑.
God has spoken finally through His Word and His Son. All that God wanted to say is sufficiently said in the Scriptures and through Jesus.
"𝑳𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒈𝒐, 𝒂𝒕 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒚 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒊𝒏 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒚 𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔, 𝑮𝒐𝒅 𝒔𝒑𝒐𝒌𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒇𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒃𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒉𝒆𝒕𝒔, 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒆 𝒍𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝒅𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒉𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒔𝒑𝒐𝒌𝒆𝒏 𝒕𝒐 𝒖𝒔 𝒃𝒚 𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝑺𝒐𝒏..." -Hebrews 1:1-2
When someone just bursts out with "God told me..." in a mystical or extra-biblical sense, it establishes a really awkward situation. Because if God, through the Holy Spirit, inspired men to write Scripture, then is this person's new revelation on the same plane as Holy Scripture? (𝑶𝒃𝒗𝒊𝒐𝒖𝒔𝒍𝒚, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒘𝒆𝒓 𝒊𝒔 𝑵𝑶.)
But if the answer is "no," then can God actually speak and say something that is not 100% reliable and authoritative JUST LIKE SCRIPTURE? (𝑶𝒃𝒗𝒊𝒐𝒖𝒔𝒍𝒚, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒘𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏 𝒊𝒔 𝑵𝑶.) We find ourselves caught in a theological dilemma that cannot be resolved.
Another issue is that when we invoke God's name and attribute our own thoughts or feelings to Him, we run the serious risk of violating the Third Commandment by taking God's name in vain.
“𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒏𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒐𝒓𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝑮𝒐𝒅 𝒊𝒏 𝒗𝒂𝒊𝒏, 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒐𝒓𝒅 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒅 𝒉𝒊𝒎 𝒈𝒖𝒊𝒍𝒕𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒘𝒉𝒐 𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒔 𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒏𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒗𝒂𝒊𝒏." -Exodus 20:7
The bottom line, my friends, is that the Bible tells us it is 100% reliable as God's Word, and it is 100% sufficient.

𝕊𝕡𝕠𝕜𝕖𝕟 𝟜 𝕒𝕥 𝕊𝕚𝕝𝕧𝕖𝕣 𝔻𝕠𝕝𝕝𝕒𝕣 ℂ𝕚𝕥𝕪
Lindsay and I have been in Arkansas and Missouri the past few days, and we had the opportunity to catch up with our friends, 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐧 𝟒, at Silver Dollar City. 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐧, 𝐉𝐨𝐧, 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧, and 𝐂𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐥 are four brothers in Christ who share their music, testimonies, and faith in our Lord at one of America's premier amusement parks.
