The musicians of have always loved cropping up around … take this throwback from our 2019 festival! (Innocent bystanders in town that day might recall an impromptu — and much remarked-upon — dance party in the parking lot while we waited for our table… 🕺🏻)

We are ready to take by storm again and this time, flood it with our own music! Gather with us this Sunday, August 10 at 2:30pm outside for an opening fanfare of sorts, and then stroll with us to the .e.r.m.a.i.d.m.u.s.e.u.m, Berlin Welcome Center, and .bar for some world-class chamber music in each setting! It’s all free, so tell your friends and enjoy a taste of !

This year’s festival was so full-on and high-octane that our usual daily posts went out the window! So here’s a brief photographic round-up of a truly spectacular week of music-making with a once-in-a-lifetime crew…

It has been a profound gift and pleasure to collaborate musically with after so many years of dreaming and scheming! Daniel is a fabulous composer from the area who has spread SO much joy, music, and opportunity to listeners of all ages and stages, and we feel so lucky to have been able to commission a short work of his for this year’s festival. His ‘Prélude to Peace’ for string quartet received its world premiere at the art gallery on Tuesday and its Berlin premiere on Wednesday at . Everyone in attendance both nights fell in love with its wistful harmonies, lilting rhythms, and the message that although we may need to navigate some dark times in the short term, we remain optimistic that peace is imminent.

Wednesday was a banner day at the Berlin Public Library! 📚 We started off the morning with a PACKED family concert (featuring many tiny dancers and an epic group composition/improvisation), continued on with the most gorgeous community play-along of Ashoken’s Farewell and the first movement of Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 3, and then the Library graciously let the festival musicians keep plugging away at our Golijov for Friday night’s performance at All Hallows Episcopal Church in Snow Hill. We love this town and we love our Library! 🥰🥰🥰
