Both the Brazilian Room and Temescal Beach House will be holding Open House on Tuesday, September 1st, 4pm - 7pm.

EBRPD Staff will be available to answer questions at each locations.

Approved Caterers AuroraCatering , Cafe Soleil Ca , and Hugh Groman Group will be at the Brazilian Room as well.

Walk-ins welcome, no registration required.

✨ Caterer Spotlight Series: Blue Heron Catering ✨

With roots dating back to 1988 in Oakland, Blue Heron has been part of the Brazilian Room community for decades. In 2005, longtime Brazilian Room caterer Debbie Pfisterer took the helm, carrying forward the Blue Heron legacy alongside Head Chef Humberto.

Their culinary style? Fresh. Local. Soulful.

What makes Blue Heron special is their team—they describe themselves as family, bringing years of shared experience, genuine care, and a commitment to making every client and guest feel well attended to.

And when it comes to the Brazilian Room, they love that there’s nothing cookie-cutter about it. From colorful, whimsical celebrations to elegant affairs and heartfelt gatherings, the venue is a blank canvas for bringing each event’s unique vision to life.

Blue Heron has also been Green Certified since 2007, incorporating sustainable practices throughout their events—from encouraging carpooling and public transit to minimizing waste, using reusable items, sourcing from local farms, and donating leftover food whenever possible.

After a successful career as Chief of Pediatric Cardiology at Children's Hospital Oakland, Chef Chris chose a new path—pursuing his lifelong love of pastry and culinary arts. His journey took him from the California Culinary Academy to the Culinary Institute of America in Napa, and ultimately to Paris, where he trained in classic French pastry before returning to the Bay Area to lead Culinary Excellence.

Today, the team is known for clean, classic French-inspired, and delicious cuisine, along with a full-service approach that helps couples feel like family from planning through the last dance.
