Hi! 👋🏻 I’m Puja, [Also, Marium, but that’s a story for another time] a first generation American Indian married to Salman, a Pakistani immigrant. You can imagine the extent of the importance and presence desi culture has in my life.
Desi- (adj.) [pronounced ‘they-see’] a word used to describe the people, culture, and products of the southeast Asian lands -think, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh etc
Recently, I’ve found myself hosting more and more social gatherings, whether it be a small Fourth of July burger-bar barbecue, or a full fledged Eid dawat. Family and friends have been reaching out for help and guidance on hosting their own events and NGL, it’s a bit flattering. 🥰
& that’s when my sis, Anisha encouraged me to start this page and share the desi and amreekan etiquettes of hosting your own soirée with my twist 🕊
