Deer Path Gardens

Directions

Deer Path Gardens The South Lawn is large enough for 300 wedding guests and the East Lawn has room for a large reception tent. The owners only allow about 5 weddings each summer.

Deer Path Gardens is a private perennial garden owned by Glenn & Margaret Poole, where many charity garden tours & special summer events such as garden parties and weddings have been held. Couples searching for a private garden setting in Southwest Michigan might want to set an appointment to visit the gardens to determine if the space fits their needs for their wedding and reception. Contact the owners any time to receive the Deer Path Gardens Brochure and Policies, and/or to arrange for a private tour of the grounds. Call 269-876-6427 for more info.

LAVENDER CARE-
FIVE COMMON MISTAKES I’VE MADE:

1) Not enough sun
2) Too much water
3) Fertilizing too much
4) Not pruning enough as blooms die; prune leaving an inch or two of green stem
5) Over pruning - cutting all the way down to the woody stem

I’ve loved lavender for years and I’ve had beautiful blooming rows then lost them … but didn’t know why. Now, I’ve learned these lessons the hard way and wanted to share them so you may enjoy watching yours grow and flourish.

Update (10-7-26) on propagating Levander cuttings: Today I gently pulled up one of the Lavender cuttings that I started on September 2 (5 weeks ago) and was DELIGHTED to see lots of healthy roots growing from the stem. Can’t wait to transplant them spring 2027.
