We believe Vermont has a special place in the New England landscape. From the lush green mountains to the picturesque farms; the small, sleepy towns to the eclectic, art scenes- Vermont is loaded with creative, talented people. We continually scour the state to find unique, quality items made by those people that the world needs to see. We invite you to stop by our downtown Bennington location to see, smell, touch, taste and otherwise experience some of that talent.

After dishing up food for the Bennington community countless times over the last thirteen years, it is with mixed emotions that I announce Bringing You Vermont will be serving its last meal at our 434 Main St location on Saturday, December 30th after which we will close to the public. I’ve made no secret of the struggles faced by small businesses in general and by us as a family over the last few years. We have continued to “Soldier On” as we have always done despite repeated hits from various directions. During all that time and all those trials, catering has been an integral part of what has kept Bringing You Vermont viable. Over the last several years as the world has tipped on its collective ear, we have chopped and sliced and stirred and baked in an effort to not only make sense of the craziness and as a way to make income but as a way to hopefully infuse love and comfort into our community. I am at a crossroads in my life where I am simply unable to physically meet the demands that food production entails any longer. To that end, the time has come for us to take a step back, regenerate, reevaluate and regroup over the coming months. We are not going to dissolve Bringing You Vermont but we *are* going to take some time to make some strategic adjustments with regard to the vastly changed business climate and the evolving needs of our family. We encourage you to use your gift certificates but they will continue to be honored at our Woodford location. We will be fulfilling any orders that we have on the books through December 30th. We hope you will all venture up the hill and visit us there where we will continue to serve all who enter our doors with all the love we have to give. We will be taking January to move items to our Woodford location and connect with vendors regarding their consignment pieces. We would like to thank our staff both past and present who worked tirelessly and with much heart to welcome and serve you over the years. We certainly could not have done it without them. We thank you for your patronage and encourage you to continue to support your community’s small businesses as you have supported ours over the years. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve you.

May Peace be with you,

The Hassett Family

We could have simply said "Closed" and I considered it. However, the more conversations I have with employees, other small business owners and the public in general, make me believe we need to be having more conversations. Discussions about what it's like to be a working family in a society that is short on childcare and where extended family and broader community connection is the exception as opposed to the rule. Dialog about what it is really like to be a small business owner who cares deeply about your employees and their wellbeing yet tends to get vilified in "media" as an entity that solely cares about the bottom line. Are there those businesses out there? Absolutely - some small and some large but for the most part small businesses attempt to do what is right by their employees while attempting to serve a need in their community and make a living themselves. We understand businesses are only as healthy as their workforce is robust. Small businesses maintain and grow by forging strong relationships and ties in the community they serve. Frank conversations need to be had and movement needs to be made to ensure employees have the resources they need to be able to work and that small businesses have what they need to be able to remain employers. A lot of that is policy stuff and I call on my legislators to address that. A lot more of it is what individuals choose to do with their purchasing power and for that I call on YOU. Sometimes shopping at a small business isn't the most convenient or the cheapest but if you consistently choose most convenient and cheapest there WILL be less and less choices for where and how you spend your dollars. We appreciate when you choose to spend them with us and we don't take that for granted.

It's Thursday afternoon. The final push to Friday for those of you who have weekends off. We have cookies, pie, muffins, candy and a complete barista bar for those of you who'd like to slide through the rest of Thursday with the help of a carb/caffeine combo! We close at 4pm though, so get yourself over here before the only choice you're left with is the water cooler and that dusty mint in the bottom of your desk drawer. In a rush? Call it in and we'll get your order ready for you. The boss'll never know you're gone! 802.753.7639
