LAQ Artist Residency Showcase 🐶🚀
Friday, April 24th, 7pm

Please join us in the LAQ warehouse movement studio for a work-in-progress showing, culminating the April Artist Residency of Portland-based musician and multimedia artist, Amanda Berlind.

Amanda will perform a reduced version of her latest comedic theatrical piece, ‘Hal Goes to Muleshoe, Texas’, featuring new compositions as well as masks and costumes developed during her residency this month.

Rally with us for a night of live music to benefit the Minneapolis Community Aid Network ( ), and celebrate the culmination of our January Artist Residency at the Lookout Arts Quarry! Featuring performances from:

246 Old Hwy 99 N

When you arrive, please park in the lower driveway and enter through the doors on the west side of the large blue corrugated metal building. Performances will be held in our warehouse movement studio.

This concert will also be the culminating showcase for the Minneapolis-based who have been our January . Along with their performance, they will present a work-in-progress animated film, combining elements of hand-drawn and stop-motion animation, which has been the focus of their residency!

We will have a popup literature and whistle distro from the Alternative Library ( ) and support from MASS (.aid.sharing.songs )

Community Aid Network (CANMN) is a grassroots volunteer-led organization located in the Bancroft neighborhood of Minneapolis, MN. We work to build solidarity with our neighbors, organize volunteers and redistribute resources to ensure everyone has the means for dignified survival. More information can be found at:

Their music has been described as scary and cinematic, with bizarre chord changes laid atop droning organs and explosive, tympani-like drums. Their songs are short and manic, encapsulating the feeling of a small bug trying to crawl out of the sink.

Through the month of January, we welcome the artist duo Glurge ( ) to the Lookout Arts Quarry for our Artist in Residence program, where they are working primarily on a stop-motion animated film to accompany one of their songs.

Glurge is an apocalyptic dirge-pop duo from Minneapolis, comprised of Stu Cline ( ) and Jessica Dzielinski ( ). Their music has been described as scary and cinematic, with bizarre chord changes laid atop droning organs and explosive, tympani-like drums. Their songs are short and manic, encapsulating the feeling of a small bug trying to crawl out of the sink.

Glurge are avid bowlers and would love to bowling with you, specifically.

On January 29th, they will present a concert and works in progress showing to culminate their residency. Full announcement of that coming soon!

Seeking nominations for new LAQ Board Members! 🎭 Would you or someone you know be a great addition to the Lookout Arts Quarry Board of Directors? The desirable skills we need from driven folks in the arts field: community connections, financial acumen, legal and risk management, and marketing/tech savvy. The best candidates have emotional connection to our arts centered mission, capacity to put in and prioritize some work, and a collaborative spirit. Candidates are chosen by shareholder election on January 5th, 2026. The nomination form must be submitted by January 2nd to be considered.

BOARD MEMBER EXPECTATIONS

- Believe in and subscribe to the LAQ Vision, Mission, and Aim.
- Attend 1.5 hour long meetings twice each month (remote available).
- Commit at least 5 hours per month to board-related tasks.
- Be able to prioritize board work.
- Be motivated, organized, and work independently.
- Learn and apply Sociocratic governance practices.
- Proficiency with Google workspace, email, Signal, and Zoom.

This Sunday (11/9) at the Quarry: Join us at 11:30 for a workshop & celebration focused on connection with seasonal cycles. 🌾🍁 of will offer insights & dialogue on the topic of attuning to land & plants as we move into the late autumn. 🍂🐿️ This event is FREE! No need to register- just show up! Come drink fresh cider pressed from quarry apples, enjoy delicious soup & bread, join an optional garden work party & relax with a restorative sauna session (and a cold plunge in the quarry if you’re brave enough!) Weather is looking lovely for Sunday and this will be a rain-or-shine event, so don’t let a few drops stop you.
