✨ National Small Business Week Spotlight ✨
Today, the College of Business is proud to highlight The Hair Queen during National Small Business Week. 💇🏽♀️✨
•What inspired you to start your business?
“I started my business because I’ve always loved doing hair and making people feel beautiful and confident. What inspired me the most was wanting to build something for myself and my family while turning my passion into a career.
I wanted more freedom, more purpose, and the chance to create a legacy doing what I love. Over time, my passion grew into a business, and now I’m proud to be known as ‘The Hair Queen.’”
•How long have you been in business?
“I’ve been in business for 10 years.”
•What services or products do you offer?
• Quick weaves
• Silk presses
• Wig installs & custom wigs
• Sew-ins & frontal installs
• Loc retwists & styling
• Braids & 2-strand twists
• Eyebrow waxing
• Hair treatments & styling services
•What makes your business unique?
“What makes my business unique is the love, passion, and quality I put into every service. I focus on making my clients feel confident, beautiful, and comfortable every time they sit in my chair.
I also offer quality hair products like Edge Check and bundles to help my clients keep their hair looking good even after they leave.”
•What has been your biggest challenge as a business owner?
“One of my biggest challenges as a business owner has been balancing everything at once — managing my business, staying consistent, taking care of clients, and still making time for my family and myself.
Another challenge has been building and growing my brand while staying motivated through slow seasons and obstacles. But every challenge has helped me grow stronger, learn more, and become a better business owner.”
•What advice would you give to future entrepreneurs and students?
“My advice to entrepreneurs and students is to stay consistent, believe in yourself, and never give up on your goals. Don’t be afraid to start small, every successful business started with an idea and hard work.
Keep learning, stay focused, and understand that challenges are a part of growth. Be patient with yourself, trust the process, and always put passion into what you do.”
