The Jacob’s Pillow Board of Trustees and institutional leadership has decided that Festival 2025 will not continue.

We have come to this difficult decision following the tragic accident on our campus on August 1.

Ticket buyers affected by the cancellations will receive refunds.

For 93 years, Jacob’s Pillow has been a haven for dance and a community dedicated to its creation, presentation, education, and preservation. We look forward to welcoming audiences back to our campus.

It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic news of the passing of a beloved member of Jacob’s Pillow's staff: Kat Sirico.

Kat was an alumni of the Pillow and an essential part of our team, and their spirit, generosity, and dedication touched the lives of many. We are holding their family, friends, and colleagues in our hearts as we grieve together.

All performances and events from Friday, August 1 through Sunday, August 3 have been canceled, and the campus will be closed. Jacob’s Pillow will resume Festival performances next week.

What does it mean when the body doesn’t just respond to technology, but shapes it? 🤔

For the opening of the new Doris Duke Theatre, we invite audiences to explore that question through a powerful multimedia exhibition curated by Katherine Helen Fisher.

Stepping into the space, you are met with motion-activated light, swirling sound, immersive films, and a 360° reimagining of Martha Graham’s "Lamentation."

Every piece in "Dancing the Algorithm" celebrates the body as both artist and innovator. 💫

“Disability is best supported by celebrating the co-existence of our differences.” – Elisabeth Motley

Earlier this year, 13 multi-disabled dance artists gathered at BAX/Brooklyn Arts Exchange for a day-long convening co-sponsored by Jacob’s Pillow.

ASSEMBLE was a rare moment of being together—centered on care, creativity, and cross-disability connection.

From weaving practices to imagined cyber realms, this gathering envisioned a more interdependent and radically accessible future for dance.

[Media Description: A 37-second video reel with a black background featuring white text that reads: "Disability dance is ever-growing in the dance field as more and more D/disabled artists understand choreography to be a valuable site for exploring the lived experience of the disabled body. - Elisabeth Motley. Disability dance is beneficial not only for the ways in which it counters and makes visible the social and political marginalization of the disabled body but also for the ways it disturbs conventional understandings of disability and amplifies the D/disabled dancer as a site of embodied ideology." The quote is framed by two decorative teal flourishes positioned like quotation marks. Essay author Elisabeth Motley reads the text aloud.]

"In an interview after the curtain closed, Norton Owen, the Pillow’s Director of Preservation, said there was no better place for the company’s final shows — because it’s a site that has witnessed the passage of dance history and celebrated it through careful documentation and archival maintenance.

'The fact that they no longer exist as a company doesn’t mean that they are now invisible,” he said, referencing the Pillow’s archive. 'It just means that there are certain pockets of places where you can find things, and this is going to be one of them.'"

“It’s a play space for artists and a site of discovery for audiences. While the building and landscape are deeply grounded in the indigenous history of the land, it’s also future-leaning because of how it’s equipped and what it will provide artists moving forward.”

– Pamela Tatge, Executive & Artistic Director of Jacob's Pillow

"Over the past 40 years, choreographer Stephen Petronio has created a robust body of work, formalist in composition and sweeping in artistic partnerships — one needs only to take a quick look at the company’s site to get a sense of the scope. This week, the Stephen Petronio Company gives its final performance at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival (July 23-27), closing this particular chapter within the choreographer’s illustrious career."
