I’m not too sure how to put this into words, but here it goes… Today I went to pick up an order for my event in Los Angeles Flower District and couldn’t believe on how empty it was. For a Wednesday morning, it was not the usual atmosphere of busy floral designers, customers who came in to buy a bouquet for their loved one or flowers to just put in a vase to enjoy at home. Customers who would come in with their coffee just to browse or buy a quick snack and of fruits from the stall near the entrance. Families coming to buy items to celebrate a Quinceañera or birthday party. I asked the gentleman in front and he confirmed what we all know by now: the ICE raids in Los Angeles has scared people from leaving their homes. I have been coming to the Flower District since I was 13 with my mom when she had her floristry business. This place has always been such a positive place for me: so many different people from different backgrounds buying flowers that come from every part of the world to celebrate moments in life. The results of these raids can be felt more than anything. Los Angeles will always be a part of my community as it is the place where so many wholesalers and floral friends helped me learn and grow in my business. I will posting fundraisers and charities on my page who are raising money or in need of donations. If you know any charities that are advertising, please send me the link and I will post it. The only way to fight hate is with community and love.
