Recently we keep having people come to us that are getting scammed a lot by different wedding vendors (not local vendors). We wanted to start a thread where the local vendors can leave tips for couples who are searching for reliable vendors. Leave you tips below.
Tips for Couples searching for wedding vendors:
1) If you see a bunch of AI garbage stay away.
2) If they are not willing to meet in person or have a phone call. Stay away
3) If you want to know if a vendor is truly local ask them about the area the venue or verify with other vendors that they have heard of them. Most people can't fake this part.
4) Be careful of large companies that span multiple cities. There are a lot of hub companies that all they do is book vendors for you by outsourcing to contractors that they dont truly know or verify. We have had at least 10 couples come to us in the last 2 years who have had djs cancel last minute because of this.
5) Ask to see their work. If they can't provide examples that could be a red flag. Not saying you can't trust a newer vendor, just saying to make sure they do what they say they do.
6) For DJs ask if they mix live and what kind of dj controller or setup they use. If they cant answer this or they just use a labtop then stay away. It means you will likely just get someone running a playlist which you could have done yourself. If you are dj and you disagree with this then come at us. You are just lazy.
7) For DJs see if they have a music list for you to fill out. If they dont be weary of them.
8)For catering ask how they serve food. Can they provide two tables. (Serving over 200 people is not a fast process when you only have one table show up and you are serving from one side of it)
9) MOST IMPORTANT: At minimum make sure you get a receipt for all of your payments. This can be used for small claims court should you ever have to go.
