Art League of Baytown was organized in 1954 and incorporated as a Texas non-profit corporation in 1963. Meetings were held in members' homes and shows were presented in any space that could be negotiated. In 2008, with the generous support of the City of Baytown, the Art League acquired its home at 110 W. and called it the Art Center of Baytown. The art center was originally a F.W. Woolworth Co. b
uilding built in the 1920s on bustling Texas Avenue in Goose Creek, which was incorporated in 1948 into Baytown. Some of Woolworth's old architecture can still be seen in the art center, especially upstairs. Meetings
Membership meetings are held at 2 p.m. the third Sunday of the month September-May. The meetings usually include an art demo and are free to the public. Mission
