AUDITION NOTICE
Mystery 207 is a Maine-based professional dinner theater company that travels throughout New England to stage interactive "crime scenes" at large restaurants and theaters. We are holding open auditions for non-union actors (SAG-AFTRA members are welcome) of all adult ages to expand our pool of professional talent based in Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts for our busy schedule of murder mystery dinner theater shows in 2026 and beyond.
These are paid per-diem positions, typically ranging from $100 to $200 per performance, plus meals. For shows requiring significant travel, we generally provide hotel accommodations if needed.
🎭 Audition Format:
Auditions will include cold readings and improv games with other participants. If you have a resume and headshot, please bring them.
🟢 We Want to Meet You If You Meet These 7 Criteria:
Strong improvisation skills.
Memorization is minimal- 75% of your performance involves interacting in character with guests and fellow actors.
Reliable transportation.
Carpooling is common, but you must be able to travel to shows independently if needed.
Ability to self-costume.
We do not have a costume shop or full-time costumer. Actors are responsible for obtaining and maintaining their own costumes. (Anything you purchase or provide remains yours to keep.)
Scheduling flexibility.
Call time is typically one hour before the show, and 90% of our performances start at 6:00 PM, including some weeknights.
Professional reliability.
Our guests pay a premium for dinner and a professional show. Punctuality and professionalism are non-negotiable. (If you struggle with timeliness this is not the gig for you.)
Legal ability to work in the United States.
All performers will receive a 1099 IRS form for tax purposes at year-end.
A positive attitude.
Nobody likes a wet blanket. We value kindness, collaboration, and professionalism.
🚨 Our Professional Standards:
We maintain a high professional standard for our actors and would expect you to uphold it. This is non-negotiable. Our formula is simple: If you keep delivering great performances, we will keep giving you work. Our core philosophy is to always position our actors for success, and we never stray from that commitment.
ℹ️ Additional Notes:
We are not casting for specific shows or roles.
Our touring productions are cast regionally. For example:
A Boston-area show is more likely to feature actors from Portsmouth than Augusta. A Bangor-area show is more likely to feature an actor from Rockland than Boston.
Minimal Rehearsals:
Our shows are heavily improv-based, with little to no rehearsal time. If you prefer script-heavy roles with deep character subtext and extensive direction, this is not the gig for you.
Anyone is welcome to attend any of the auditions regardless of region.
