Fork Township will accept sealed bids for:

Roof repair on Fork Township/Barryton Community Fire Department Station, located at 3098 Oak Road, Barryton, MI 49305. Project includes: removal of all existing metal from East roof (front and back sides); repair/replacement of all damaged sheeting (OSB); installation of ice shield; purlins on all sheeting; new pole barn steel on roof with proper overlap including new cap and trim; and interior water damage repair including 128 square feet of R30 batt insulation and 128 square feet of 26 gauge corrugated ceiling panels. The statutory duties for Township Treasurer include:

• Collects real and personal property taxes
• Keeps an account of township receipts (revenues) and expenditures
• Prepares some financial reports
• Issues township checks
• Receives and deposits all township revenues and payments in approved depositories
• Invests township funds in approved investment vehicles
• Maintains records of treasurer’s office
• Collects delinquent personal property tax

• Collects mobile home specific tax

NOTICE TO BIDDERS

Fork Township will accept bids/quotations for:

BURIAL AND FOUNDATION SEXTON SERVICES (January 1, 2025 through December 31, 2026) for Brown, East Fork, and Flake Cemeteries.

Bids/Quotations must include the following:

• Summer and Winter grave burials
• Summer and Winter infant burials
• Summer and Winter cremation burials
• Summer and Winter cremation vault burials
• Any charges for oversized burials
• Charges for mounting military plaques in foundations
• Charges for pouring foundations (minimum of 8” in depth with a minimum of 2” border)

Burial and foundation sexton is responsible for grave digging, opening and closing of grave sites (full burials and cremation burials), pouring foundations, working closely with Township Cemetery Clerk to research locations of sites and marking sites, working closely with funeral directors (and private individuals) to schedule burial dates, snow removal services (if necessary for winter burials), and making sure that grave sites are presentable to cemetery visitors on scheduled burial dates.

Contractor will be required to provide all necessary tools/equipment, sign contract, provide own liability insurance and submit proof of insurance and W-9 form to Township.

NOTICE OF VACANCY – TOWNSHIP ASSESSOR

The Fork Township Board is seeking qualified applicants for the appointment of Fork Township Assessor effective May 1, 2025.

Fork Township’s 2024 SEV $92,680,941 and Taxable Value $61,819,790 with 1,493 parcels.

Broad Statement of Responsibilities:
Assessor shall be responsible for overall direction and management of the Township of Fork property assessing program, including, but not limited to:

• Oversee identifying, inventorying, determining market values and calculating assessed valuation for all Township properties in accordance with the State Tax Commission (STC) regulations, methods, and procedures to ensure fair and equitable assessments.
• Maintain accurate Principal Residence Exemption and property transfer information in compliance with applicable State laws.
• Respond to inquiries and requests for assessment information from the public.
• Oversee maintenance of departmental files including property records/cards, physical data, legal descriptions, splits and combinations of parcels, and ownership transfers.
• Represent the Township in defending assessments appealed to the Michigan Tax Tribunal.
• Supervise and participate in the preparation of the property assessment roll for presentation to the Board of Review; make adjustments to the assessment/tax roll directed by the board of Review; participates in Board of Review sessions and compile results and preparation of letters and reports associated with this process. In-person attendance is required three times per year during board of Review appeals. March requires the organizational meeting and both two-day appeal sessions; July and December are one-day sessions.
• Inspection of twenty percent (20%) of each class of property throughout Township annually.
• Maintain a professional and courteous relationship with the public.
• Perform other tasks as requested by the Township Supervisor.
• Attend monthly Township meetings on a bi-annual basis (minimum).
• Provide written report of all assessing activities being performed throughout the Township to the Township Board on a monthly basis.

Candidate must hold minimum (MCAO) Level 2 State Certification, experience preferred. Applicants must have proficiency in BS&A.Net and Apex software. Compensation to be negotiated.
