Would you believe me if I told you this was taken INSIDE?? Finding ways to capture photos in unconventional locations is one of my favorite things to do. Whether it’s finding beautiful light like this inside, or taking photos next to a parking lot and making it look like a country field, it is always so rewarding afterwards. Photographers have to learn to see the edit while they shoot more than just the photo itself.

I don’t post on social media much. Over the years all socials have slowly evolved into something that is full of comparison. It’s full of “This person has this many followers”; “this person shot this wedding in this location”; “this person traveled to that country”; “this person has this kind of house”. We have turned it into something that, instead of just sharing our lives, inspiring one another, showing our work, we are often times working to further ourselves and lift ourselves up ahead of someone else. It used to be that if we had an opinion, or did something really cool that we could either share it with a few good friends and family or just keep it to ourselves. Now, everything has to be “shared” or made into “content”. Everyone has all of a sudden become “experts” in all fields. Everyone is a “brand” now. We have turned our society into a shopping mall of “brands” rather than a culture of people.

I don’t post on social, not because I don’t have things to share, but because I feel like “oh, this isn’t what the trends are” rather than “I love these images and this work and I want to share them”. It used to be that we shared because we loved it and because we wanted to serve clients well. Now it feels like we, as a culture, are sharing because we want to boost ourselves and “keep up”. It’s gross.

So, with that being said here are some recent photos that I love, not because they’re “trendy” but because I love them and I am very proud of them. I am proud of them because they tell the story of what these precious days held. I am proud of them because of who these people are. I am proud of them because I had fun and wanted to share. I hope to get back to sharing work because I am proud of it, not because culture tells me I need to boost myself and “my brand”.

It is absolutely impossible to pick favorites from this past weekend. Courtney and Chris’s wedding day was one for the record books. To be able to be a part of such a special day was an incredible honor and not one that I take for granted. Thank you to the amazing vendor team for working so hard to make this day such a success for Courtney and Chris.

EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT!

For the last 12 years, storytelling has been at the heart of everything I do.

Today, I am very excited to finally announce Stillhouse Collective! In addition to JP Pratt Photography, this is something that I have been working on launching over the last several months. My wedding and family photography business will always be a huge part of what I do and most of you know me through that work. I’m incredibly grateful for the trust you’ve placed in me over the years. Those relationships have shaped both my business and who I am.

Along the way, I’ve also had the opportunity to work with businesses, nonprofits, and organizations—helping them tell their stories and communicate what they do.

Somewhere along the way, I realized I wanted to create a home for that work, too.

Stillhouse Collective is a creative studio helping brands and organizations tell meaningful stories through thoughtful creative work.

Again, JP Pratt Photography isn’t going anywhere! Weddings and families will always be a meaningful part of what I do. Stillhouse Collective is simply a natural extension of the work I’ve been building over the years.
If you own a business, lead an organization, or know someone who does, I’d love for you to follow along.

Throwing it back to Arielle and Rich’s engagement. When Arielle told me she wanted to use the car she learned to drive on in her photos I was all about it! This is one of the first and only times that an engagement session as involved some off roading and it was 100% worth it!
