Today my heart is heavy, but also determined. After hearing of the young Black man found hanging on a Mississippi college campus, I am reminded once again of how much our young Black boys need to be seen, valued, protected, and uplifted.
To every young Black boy reading this:
• You are brilliant.
• You are worthy.
• You are loved beyond measure.
• You are more than the stereotypes placed upon you.
• You are the future, carrying strength, creativity, and resilience in your very being.
The world may sometimes try to dim your light, but I want you to know—your light is powerful, radiant, and necessary. You are leaders, innovators, and kings in the making.
To the community: let’s do our part to nurture, affirm, and protect our boys. Let’s remind them daily that they matter, that their lives are sacred, and that their dreams deserve to be fulfilled.
Young Black boys, never forget—you belong here. You are enough. And you are deeply, deeply cherished.
