It's Finish Fridays! Let's talk about cherry wood.
I have clients coming in asking for cherry. Some do not understand that cherry is a wood type and most are referring to the color (they want a reddish cabinet color). I don't refer to the reddish stain as cherry, so I always clarify with them before proceeding.
Today we are talking about the wood. This wood varies in tone in its natural state before any stain is applied. The variation varies and if you want to cut back on that, the person constructing the cabinet would end up with a lot of waste and very costly.
Because this is a natural wood, when it is stained, the color will vary. You would see lighter streaks and this is normal. Each cabinet line has their line of what is acceptable to send to clients, so before you purchase cherry wood, make sure you have no problem with its variety.
Don't call me after I've explained and showed you what can happen and ask for a replacement door. The company would not deem that as defective and it'll cost to replace a door.
