Austin is the base. Most of what actually gets booked runs outside the city limits.

Hill Country — Driftwood and Dripping Springs are 40–50 minutes. The 290 corridor through Johnson City and Stonewall. Fredericksburg is about ninety minutes each way. Salt Lick in Driftwood, cash and BYOB.
Rivers and lakes — the San Marcos River is 35–45 minutes and the mellowest float in Central Texas. The Comal in New Braunfels is 50–60. Lake Travis marinas run 35–45 depending which side of RM 620 you're on.

Metro — Round Rock, Georgetown, Cedar Park, Pflugerville and Buda pickups are routine.
The question that changes your total more than the hourly rate does: is drive time to your pickup coming out of your booked block, or ours? Ask every company you call.

And book distance by the road, not the destination. A Fredericksburg day is three hours of driving before anyone tastes anything — six to eight hours is the honest booking.

Group rideshare or a chartered austin party bus? Two different products, and the answer isn't always us.
Fetii is an Austin-founded group rideshare platform. You request on demand or schedule ahead, the vans seat up to about fifteen, everyone scans a QR code to check in, and each person pays their own share at an upfront price.

Yes, you can theme the bus. Here's the honest list of what travels and what doesn't.
Works: garlands along the perimeter, a backdrop on the rear wall, LED colour matched to your theme, custom cups, and a playlist built for it.

Doesn't: candles and sparklers (moving vehicle, fixed ceiling — hard no), confetti and glitter (that's cleaning-fee territory and it never fully leaves), loose props that end up on the floor by the second stop, and anything heavy enough to block the aisle.

Timing is the thing people get wrong. Decorating with twenty people already on board doesn't work. Tell us at booking, show up fifteen minutes early with the box, and it's done before the first person steps on.

San Marcos to Austin is thirty miles. The ride up is the easy part.
The reason groups book this one is the ride back. A rideshare from Sixth Street to San Marcos at 2am is a long-distance fare at surge pricing, assuming a driver takes it at all. The bus is already booked and already sitting there.

Timing, honestly: a clean run is 35–40 minutes. Friday evening on I-35, budget 60–75. Drop-offs work fine at Rainey, East Sixth and West Sixth.

Two things that save groups the most money on this route — pick ONE pickup point in San Marcos instead of four apartment complexes, and book one hour past when you think you're leaving. Going into overtime costs more than the hour you didn't book.

Is it cheaper to rent a party bus or a limo in Austin? It depends entirely on how many people you're dividing by — and both answers can be true at the same time.

They don't price the same way. A limo is usually cheaper per hour. A bus is usually cheaper per person. That's not a sales line, it's just two ways of dividing the same bill.

The crossover sits around ten people. Under about ten, a limo often wins on total cost. Above that, the bus wins — because the price doesn't change when you add a rider. Our 14-passenger starts at $165 to $175 an hour plus 20% covering driver gratuity and gas.

Then there's the part price doesn't show. A limo seats you facing each other under a low ceiling. A bus gives you standing headroom and an open floor. For a two-hour arrival that doesn't matter. For a six-hour night it's the whole difference — a bus group stays one group, a limo group turns into two separate conversations.

One Austin-specific thing worth asking before you compare quotes: can the vehicle actually reach you? Sixth Street closes to vehicles on weekend nights, some downtown garages won't take the height, and the streets around Rainey are tight. Better to know a week out with a staging point agreed than to find out at pickup.

How much does a party bus cost to buy? The bus is the small part 🚌

Vehicle: ~$50k for an older converted coach, $400k+ new.
Insurance: the real gate. A new Texas venture is commonly quoted $6-8k a year per vehicle. And most carriers won't cover a driver who hasn't held a CDL for three years — including you.

License: CDL with a passenger endorsement is federally required at 16+ passengers including the driver.
Then: TxDMV registration, inspections, storage for a 40-foot vehicle, a mechanic who works on buses, and every week it sits not earning.

Which is the honest answer to why an hour costs what it costs.

Comparing party bus services for a large group in Austin? Above about twenty-five people, four questions matter more than the hourly rate.

First — rated capacity isn't comfortable capacity. A 30-passenger bus seats 30 on paper. Add coolers, bags and people who want to stand, and it's genuinely comfortable at 24 to 26. Ask any company what their number assumes.

Second — one big bus or two small ones. Two vehicles means two drivers, two arrival times and a group that splits for the night. One bus keeps it one party. Worth pricing both, as long as you know what the trade is.

Third — the sixteen-passenger line. Federal rules require a commercial driver's license with a passenger endorsement for any vehicle designed to carry 16 or more people including the driver. That means a 14-passenger van and a 20-passenger bus are in different regulatory categories, and most customers have no idea to ask.

Fourth — ask who owns the second vehicle. On large-group bookings, subcontracting the extra bus is common across this industry. Ask whose vehicle it is and whose driver is behind the wheel. We own every vehicle we send and employ every driver, which is why we can answer that on the phone.
Then compare per person rather than per hour. A bus prices by the vehicle, so every extra rider lowers cost per head while the total stays the same.

Party bus from Austin to Lake Travis — three things worth knowing before you book.

The drive is the variable. RM 620 on a summer Saturday morning is a completely different road than it is midweek. Leave earlier than feels necessary and build that buffer into your booked block, rather than discovering it at the end of the day and paying overtime for it.

Six to eight hours. Pickup mid-morning, out to a marina or a lake house, boat or barge through the middle of the day, then back into town for dinner and whatever follows. Six hours is tight once you've counted the drive on both ends. Eight is comfortable.

The drive home is the actual reason. Nobody should be making a forty-minute drive back into Austin after six hours on the water. That's the whole value of the booking — not the lighting, not the sound system. Everything else is a bonus.

Coolers and ice are on board and BYOB is standard for guests 21 and over, which covers the drive out as well as the drive back.
