One of our clients reached out to us today to thank ShowPhaze for providing an excellent crew, and to highlight how they went above and beyond on their most recent event. The load out was scheduled for a half day of show, followed by a strike. Pretty standard stuff, but what wasn’t communicated to anyone by the hotel staff beforehand, was that the next show was immediately loading into the same ballroom while we were scheduled to be loading out.
Backs were to the wall as the General Session and the last remaining breakout room had to be struck in only 2 hours. Typically strikes of this size take at least 3 hours with a solid crew so while it wasn’t impossible, it certainly wasn’t ideal. Show crew rolled into meal penalty and the strike team got to work. LED, projection, lighting rigs, PA and pipe and drape all had to come down and be put on a truck, while several other trucks were pulling into the dock and being unloaded to set up the next event.
When you pay your crew 5 hour and 10 hour minimums, you’ll get the maximum out of them. Nobody’s there to stretch out the clock on a ShowPhaze call and it’s situations like this when details can really make the difference. Credit to the guys who rolled the last case out right at the 2 hour and 5 minute mark in positive spirits all while the incoming client was breathing down their necks.
