🪄 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒐𝒏 𝑮𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒔 by P.D. Cacek – A modern-day sorceress takes on her romantic rival.
🪄 𝑾𝒊𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏 𝑶𝒏𝒆 𝑴𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒉’𝒔 𝑻𝒊𝒎𝒆 by Steven Korbar – Family, infidelity, and witchcraft collide.

“𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝘄” 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗔𝘂𝗴. 𝟭𝟵
The deadline to submit short plays, short stories and poems for consideration for our October 5 ONS Theater show, “Witches Brew” is August 19. We are looking for pieces, comedic or dramatic, of horror, supernatural or fantasy that feature female characters or themes. We did this theme MANY years ago and are looking forward to seeing witches on our stage again…but also fantastic women of all sorts!

𝙋𝙝𝙤𝙩𝙤𝙨 𝙗𝙮 𝘿𝙤𝙪𝙜 𝘽𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣

Thank you to everyone who was part of “Dogs and Cats Living Together” on Sunday night. The six plays and one story about pets and the people who love them were enjoyed by all. Thank you to our actors – 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗮, 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗲, 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮, 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸, 𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗻, 𝗞𝘆𝗹𝗲, 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗲, 𝗞𝗲𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗝𝗼, 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁, 𝗔𝘆𝗱𝗲𝗻, 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘆𝗔𝗻𝗻, and 𝗞𝗼𝗯𝘆 – for their great portrayals of dogs, cats and humans, and thank you to directors 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗿𝘆𝗻, 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮 and 𝗟𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲 for bringing these stories (and sometimes technology) to life. Thanks also to 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝗵, 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗲, 𝗝𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝘆, 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻, 𝗗𝗼𝘂𝗴 and the 𝗛𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘀 for making the evening go smoothly, and to those who took down the cross and covered the floor so our canine/feline evening could go on without distractions. We appreciate the providers of the “When Pets Go Bad” anecdotes in between the plays and, finally, a gracious thank-you to Nickelson, our fake theater cat.

Our next show is “𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝘄” on October 5th, which will be short plays, stories, and poems about horror, fantasy and the supernatural from a female perspective. We are nearing the deadline for play submissions (Aug. 19) and we’ll announce the show roster after that.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
𝗞𝗲𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗠𝗰𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲-𝗔𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗼𝘀: A small-town American playwright raised in Alabama, New Mexico, and West Texas, Kelly’s aesthetic view is a fusion of Southern Appalachian and Southwest US culture, heavily influenced by the literary genres of Magical Realism, Romanticism, and Gothicism. A member of the Dramatists Guild and a Sewanee Writers’ Conference Tennessee Williams Scholar, Kelly is the winner of the Southern Playwrights Competition and the StageRaw (LA) playwriting award, a BAPF finalist and semi-finalist, a Garry Marshall finalist, a Stowe Story Labs finalist, an O’Neill semi-finalist, and a two-time Princess Grace semi-finalist. Her plays have been produced or developed by theaters from Off-Off-Broadway to LA, Chicago to Chile, and published by YouthPLAYS.

We have finished rehearsals for our “Dogs and Cats Living Together” show and will be performing it on Sunday night! On August 10, 7:30 p.m. at Vintage Theatre we’ll be sharing our plays and stories of cats, dogs, a couple of pigeons and a lot of passionate humans. I’ve also learned some interesting things about pets during rehearsals and may share some of them in-between the plays. Our cast and I hope to see you there!

𝗝𝘂𝗱𝘆 𝗞𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀: Eight of Judy’s full-length plays have been produced onstage, and 42 of her short plays. Three of her full-length plays are published: by Concord Theatricals, by Next Stage Press, and by Lazy Bee Scripts in the UK. A number of her plays, short and long, have been produced as podcasts. ABOUT THE AUTHOR
𝗟𝗶𝘀𝗮 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝗙𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱 is an award-winning playwright, a member of the Dramatists Guild, and president of the board of Arts For All, an NYC-based nonprofit bringing accessible artistic opportunities to children who face barriers to exploring the arts. She has a BFA in Film & TV from NYU and two kids who are disappointed that she doesn’t write plays about dinosaurs.

Kathryn Gourley, Brenda Hoskins, Lorraine Scott and Jim O’Leary will be directing. We hope to see you August 10 for these plays and stories about pets and the humans who love them.

We are halfway through our rehearsals for “Dogs and Cats Living Together,” our celebration of family pets and the people who love them.
