We have selected the plays for our next One Night Stand Theater production, “𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗟𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲…” Thank you to the many playwrights and writers who sent in their plays, short stories and poems for our June 14th celebration of friends and friendship. The seven short plays chosen feature both good friends and bad friends:

—Ellen’s imaginary friend returns one last time in “𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗙𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻” by Marjorie Williamson.

—Beatrice and her friend sabotage her daughter’s wedding in “𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗶𝗱𝗼𝘄 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀” by Jye Bryant.

—A cow and a goat make the best of a bad situation in “𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝘄” by Mark Harvey Levine.

—Gary gets more than he bargained for when he rights a childhood wrong in “𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀” by Craig McNamara.

—Jack and Liz’s friends disrupt their divorce plans in “𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗹𝘆 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘂𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻” by Dan Borengasser.

—Lauren’s college friend threatens to ruin her career in “𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲” by Robert Weibezahl.

—Owen teaches Sam a thing or two about beer and life in “𝗩𝗲𝗻𝗼𝗺” by Jim Moss.

Welcome, KATHRYN GOURLEY, to that illustrious group the 𝟳𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀—the incredible folks who have participated in at least 𝘀𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀. See them all at https://www.onenightstandtheater.org/7night-standers

𝐊𝐀𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐘𝐍 𝐆𝐎𝐔𝐑𝐋𝐄𝐘 first joined One Night Stand with 2024’s 𝘿𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙉𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 as a stage director, and since then𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘨 𝘍𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘬𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘪𝘯 she has staged plays in 𝘼𝙡𝙡 𝙂𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙠 𝙩𝙤 𝙈𝙚, 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘼𝙧𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙎𝙚𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙒𝙞𝙩𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙨 𝘽𝙧𝙚𝙬, 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙇𝙤𝙫𝙚 and more. In addition to her great work as a director, she occasionally does light and sound operation for our shows.

Kathryn has worked within the Denver theater community as an actor, stage manager, and director since 2011. Favorite credits include stage-managing 𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘨 𝘍𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘬𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘪𝘯 and 𝘠𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘢 𝘎𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘔𝘢𝘯, 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘪𝘦 𝘉𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘯 (both at Vintage Theatre), assistant-directing 𝘛𝘪𝘤𝘬, 𝘛𝘪𝘤𝘬...𝘉𝘰𝘰𝘮! (Vintage Theatre) and 𝘚𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘺 𝘛𝘰𝘥𝘥 (Equinox Theatre Company), and directing 𝘈 𝘠𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘍𝘳𝘰𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘛𝘰𝘢𝘥 (Vintage Theatre) and the world premiere of 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘞𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘉𝘦 𝘓𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 (BackStory Theatre, Wellspring). She founded the sketch comedy podcast Travesty Hall, which performed at the Denver Fringe Festival, and she is a member of the board of directors at Vintage Theatre (where we perform).

𝗔𝗕𝗢𝗨𝗧 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗬𝗪𝗥𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧
𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗹𝘆𝗻 𝗞𝗿𝗼𝗹 is a Michigan playwright who has been writing since 2018. Her play 𝘛𝘳𝘶𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘧𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 was performed at the Farmington Players’ One Act Festival in 2019 and marked the first staged performance of one of her works. Since then she has seen her pieces performed in several states around the country and her play 𝘗𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘺 𝘙𝘦𝘥 is set to become an audio play produced in the UK. Marilyn enjoys reading, travel, Zumba, pickleball, and word games.
