Little Beauties

MICRO gallery

Little Beauties by Didi Dunphy and Jaime Bull, extends the Magpie exhibition into the MICRO gallery, featuring a selection of smaller-scale works by the artists.

Jaime Bull (b. 1980) earned an MFA from the Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia. She makes drawings, paintings, sculptures and videos of sea creatures, beaches and bodies with a feminist and many times humorous perspective. Bull has been a studio artist at the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center and participated in residencies at the Aquarium Gallery in New Orleans, Hambidge in North Georgia, the Vermont Studio Center and Bernheim Arboretum in Louisville, KY. Her work has been shown at Whitespace Gallery, Day&Night Projects, Goat Farm, Zuckerman Museum of Art, the Atlanta Airport, Wesleyan College in Macon, Tiger Strikes Asteroid in Greenville, Auburn University and Los Angeles City College. Bull lives in Athens, Georgia, has an artist-run gallery space called FOYER and teaches art classes at UGA. 

Didi Dunphy is a native New Yorker, Los Angeles transplant, living in Athens GA.  Ms. Dunphy received an MFA from San Francisco Art Institute in the contemporary arts.  She has had exhibits in major venues such as the Atlanta Contemporary, COCA, St. Louis, Telfair Museum in Savannah, the Jacksonville Museum of Modern Art in Florida, the Armory Center for the Arts, Pasadena, CA and more. A number of features have been written about Ms. Dunphy including Southern Living, Athens Magazine, Craft, CMYK, as well as art and exhibition reviews in the LA Times, SF Chronicle, Atlanta Journal Constitution, burnaway.org and ArtsATL, and others.  Ms. Dunphy is represented by Whitespace Gallery in Atlanta.

MAGPIE
September 4-October 24

Magpie brings together the vibrant work of Athens-based artists Jaime Bull, Victoria Dugger, and Didi Dunphy. Through sculpture, material, and unexpected forms, the artists explore the playful possibilities of contemporary and experimental art.

Jaime Bull (b. 1980) earned an MFA from the Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia. She makes drawings, paintings, sculptures and videos of sea creatures, beaches and bodies with a feminist and many times humorous perspective. Victoria Dugger (b. 1991, Columbus, Georgia) is a visual artist based in Athens, Georgia. She earned her BFA from Columbus State University in 2016 and her MFA in Painting from the Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia in 2022. She made her New York solo debut with Out of Body at Sargent’s Daughters in 2021, followed by Tough Love in 2024. Dugger’s work explores identity, disability, and Southern heritage through a reimagined Southern Gothic lens. Most recently, she was awarded a 2024 MacDowell Fellowship. Dugger is represented by Sargent’s Daughters.

Didi Dunphy is a native New Yorker, Los Angeles transplant, living in Athens GA. Ms. Dunphy received an MFA from San Francisco Art Institute in the contemporary arts.
