Some moments you feel called to show up and you donโ€™t question it.

I met the monks on the very first day they crossed the Alabama state line in Cuba, AL. From that moment, I knew I wanted to be part of their journey. And on Christmas Day, that journey brought them to Opelika.

What unfolded in our city was nothing short of beautiful. In just two days of planning, the community came together in a powerful way. Hundreds gathered in stillness and unity, reminding us that this walk was never about religion, it was about

I reached out to Ali with nothing more than hope and a vision. She stepped in immediately with grace and heart, helping ensure the Venerable Monks and their team were welcomed in the best way possible. I cannot thank you enough for this Ali, like you are just freakin amazing ๐Ÿฅนโ™ฅ๏ธ And Todd, your support and ability to connect the dots with the City of Opelika and Opelika Police Department made everything come together so seamless. Literally thank you all. This community truly needs people like Ali and Todd!

A heartfelt thank you to Pastor Patrick Craig and the Foundry Opelika family for opening their doors and welcoming the monks with such kindness and intention.
To Collins Farm, thank you for opening your home on the monksโ€™ 62nd day of their journey and providing a place of rest and lunch, your generosity will not be forgotten.

Iโ€™m also deeply grateful to my family and friends, who volunteered without hesitation, showing up daily and bringing lunch every step of the way, from Montgomery to Hogansville, GA.

This journey was made possible by love in action.
This is what community looks like.
This is what peace in action feels like.
And this is what happens when people say yes.๐Ÿค

A peaceful and meaningful journey is making its way toward our community!

The Walk for Peace is a global walking pilgrimage rooted in compassion, mindfulness, and loving-kindness. Step by step, the Venerableโ€™s walk with a simple intention to cultivate peace within themselves and to share that peace with every person and place they encounter.

This walk is not about religion.
It is about humanity, unity, and the shared desire for peace. It is an invitation to slow down, connect, and remember that peace begins within and is strengthened through kindness and community, especially during the holidays.

As the Walk for Peace approaches the Opelikaโ€“Auburn area (now projected December 26โ€“27), we have seen how other cities along the journey have naturally come together offering rest, care, meals, and space simply as an expression of goodwill.

Please keep in mind, the Venerable Monks do not ask for assistance or make requests of the communities they pass through. They walk with the intention of peace, allowing each city to respond in its own way. Any support offered along the path has been freely given by individuals and businesses who felt called to help.

With that same spirit, we are extending an open invitation to our Opelikaโ€“Auburn community to come together and support the Walk for Peace in any way that feels right.

This may include:
โ€ข A welcoming space for a meet & greet or quiet community gathering
โ€ข Overnight lodging or a safe place to rest
โ€ข Medical or wellness care
โ€ข Meals, es**rt service as they walk through our city to the next, or any service that can support them during their visit.

No gesture is too small. Every act of kindness becomes part of the walk itself.

If you or your business feel called to support, host, or learn more, please comment below, send a message, email [email protected], call 334-524-0143.

Let us welcome this journey with open hearts and show what peace looks like when a community comes together.

May peace arise in every heart.โ™ฅ๏ธ -the grazer co.
