Sundilla Concert Series & Radio Hour

Sundilla Concert Series & Radio Hour In 2023 we celebrated 30 years of bringing the best musicians from around the world to Auburn, AL... and we're still going strong! Don't be this person!

(And be sure to check out our syndicated radio show!) Somewhere, there is probably someone who lived in England in 1960 who turned down a chance to go to The Cavern Club because he had never heard of the band. "The band" in question was, of course, The Beatles. They went on to have a bit of success in the music business; enough success that the guy who didn't want to go see them play because he ha

d never heard of them is still kicking himself black-and-blue 40 years later. So when you're trying to decide whether or not you want to drag yourself out to see some unknown play at Sundilla, just remind yourself that every musician was once an unknown, and that every musician who sells out arenas for hundreds of dollars per ticket once played somewhere for under ten bucks. And someone who paid hundreds of dollars to sit in the last row of an arena once turned down the chance to sit on the first row of a small venue for next to nothing.

LIVE MUSIC FRIDAY with ABBIE GARDNER in concert at Sundilla!! That's THIS Friday, June 12; showtime at the AUUF (450 E. Thach Avenue in Auburn) is 7:30, and you can still find Advance tickets for just $20 at Spicer's Music, LLC, Ross House Coffee, and online at https://www.sundillaconcerts.com/buy-tickets. Admission at the door will be $25, and just $15 for students. Free coffee, tea, water, and food will be available, and the audience is welcome to bring their own favorite food or beverage.

Abbie Gardner is a fiery dobro player with an infectious smile. Whether performing solo or with Americana darlings Red Molly, her songs are propelled by impeccable slide guitar chops. Her live show is truly unique - as an award-winning songwriter, captivating vocalist, and a world-class lap style dobro player, she has an unmistakable sound all her own. This sound of vocals and dobro unaccompanied is masterfully captured on her 2022 CD "DobroSinger." The record hit #11 on the Billboard Blues Charts and #2 on the Folk DJ Charts. It’s a raw intimate recording full of blues and heartfelt ballads. Quite a contrast to Wishes on a Neon Sign (2018) which featured a co-write with Chris Stapleton and leaned on full band production. Though she has traveled around the world with Red Molly, Abbie stands strong as a solo act and has opened for Lori McKenna, Hot Rize, and Martina McBride.

LIVE MUSIC RETURNS! We're less than a week away from ABBIE GARDNER in concert at Sundilla! Be sure to be there on Friday, June 12, when Abbie Gardner will make her solo Sundilla. Showtime at the AUUF (450 E. Thach Avenue in Auburn) is 7:30. Advance tickets are just $20 and can be found at Spicer's Music, LLC, Ross House Coffee, and online at www.sundillaconcerts.com. Admission at the door will be $25, and $15 for students.

This is Abbie’s SOLO debut because she previously appeared at Sundilla as part of her groundbreaking trio Red Molly. But don’t think that Abbie can’t command the stage all on her own. She is a fiery dobro player with an infectious smile. Her songs are propelled by impeccable slide guitar chops. Her live show is truly unique - as an award-winning songwriter, captivating vocalist, and a world-class lap style dobro player, she has an unmistakable sound all her own. This will be Admiral Radio's first appearance at Sundilla, but they're not beginners; they have been wowing the right people for a while:
"When their vocals intertwine, it's almost unbearably majestic." -Americana Highways

"These ears haven't heard a duo so attuned to each other since first encountering The Civil Wars. Their harmonies evoke a country/folk lineage one could easily follow back to the Carter Family." -Free Times

"Admiral Radio is one of those classically-minded Americana duos that use a hushed atmosphere to create entire sonic worlds with just two gorgeous voices and a finely-picked instrument." -Kyle Peterson, The Jasper Project

"Admiral Radio is one of those groups that reminds you why you got into the arts in the first place." -Chris DeVore, Executive Director, Mountain Home, Idaho Arts Council

"I think this one has the power to help and heal." -American Songwriter

And now, it's our turn! Don't miss Admiral Radio TONIGHT!

TOMORROW! ADMIRAL RADIO in concert at Sundilla this THURSDAY, April 30. Showtime at the AUUF (450 E. Thach Avenue in Auburn) is 7:30, and you can find Advance tickets for just $20 at Spicer's Music, LLC, Ross House Coffee, and online at https://www.sundillaconcerts.com/buy-tickets. Admission at the door will be $25, and $15 for students. The coffee, tea, water, and food will be free, and you can bring your own favorite beverage or food.

Admiral Radio, an award-winning folk/Americana act from South Carolina, is the creative partnership of Coty Hoover and Becca Smith. (For us, they’ll be a trio! So expect guitar, banjo, stand-up bass, and three vocalists.) Named after their old wooden radio, this husband-and-wife team blends heartfelt harmonies, storytelling, and raw sincerity. Having met while waiting tables in South Carolina’s Lowcountry, their sound is straightforward yet powerful—rooted in tight vocal interplay and finely picked acoustic instruments. Inspired by the everyday, their songs explore life lessons, the quiet hustle of ordinary life, and the dogged optimism that drives it all.

Simply put, Becca and Coty aim to leave listeners better than they found them. With a personal sincerity and honest performance, you might shed a few tears and roll with laughter. The duo has four independently-produced albums under their belt and has also earned finalist and first-place honors in prestigious songwriting competitions around the country, including Kerrville Folk Festival, NewFolk, the Merlefest Band Competition, Cayamo Soundcheck, and the International Bluegrass Music Association's Official Songwriter Showcase.

Known for their energetic and emotional live shows, Admiral Radio has shared stages with bluegrass legend Del McCourey, folkgrass icon Molly Tuttle, pop-rock sensation Judah & the Lion, and more. From humble beginnings to their growing buzz, Admiral Radio is redefining the folk tradition with every mile down America's backroads.
