We always love supporting The Auburn Food Bank. This vital resource assists nearly 1000 families experiencing food insecurity every week! This morning’s Harvest Breakfast fundraiser was another opportunity and attended by 100s of caring supporters. Please consider donating. Even a few dollars helps.

We co-hosted the Distillery Tasting & Tour along with Mike Gifford, Blackfish owner. Mike talked about the distillery’s history and how the spirits are made along with providing many delicious tastings. Pair that with a menu and a fun, tasty and interesting evening was enjoyed by all that attended. All the proceeds from the ticket sales benefited The Babies and Beyond Diaper Bank.

On this night exactly 35 years ago, yes 35, Cafe Pacific opened its doors for the first time by a newly married couple in their 20s that wanted to elevate the dining experience in Federal Way, Washington. John & Amy Hatcher came up with the name because the restaurant was located on Pacific Highway S. (A question they get asked frequently.) They changed to catering in 1993 after the building they were located in, The Federal Way Shopping Center, was demolished. They began the food service operation at the City of Federal Way’s newly acquired property on Puget Sound, The Visitation Retreat Center. They also changed from a restaurant to a catering operation which meshed perfectly with the food service at Visitation, nka, Dumas Bay Centre. In addition to the incredible growth of Western Washington, the endless support of family, friends, community, patrons and clients they are still here today despite significant challenges, economic downturns and especially the pandemic. We’ll be grilling our signature Maple Rub Salmon again this year so come to Steel Lake Park and support The Federal Way Kiwanis Club on Friday, July 26th.
