Today we celebrate National Loving Day - a day to remember the landmark 1967 Supreme Court Decision of Loving vs. Virginia striking down laws banning in*******al marriage in the United States. The perfectly named Mildred and Richard Loving were arrested, convicted and sentenced to prison, just for being a multiracial couple living together as husband and wife. With the help of the ACLU, they appealed their convictions all the way to the US Supreme Court, winning their appeal and paving the way for multiracial couples to marry legally in all 50 states.

53 years later we are still fighting for racial equality and justice. People in Atlanta and all over the world have taken to the streets to raise awareness and demand change. We will continue to support people and organizations like the ACLU and others working to bring equal economic opportunity, equality in healthcare and education, fairness in policing and criminal justice and protection of voting rights for all people of color. Legendary Events stands with our black and brown family in fighting to make these ideals a reality - NOW.

We will also continue to do as we have done for 23 years - help ALL couples celebrate love. And we take today to celebrate one very special couple - Mildred and Richard Loving. Happy Loving Day!!!

Great advice from Sowing Clover Photography about doing a 'First Look' - Thank you for picking this gorgeous couple and as your example.

In the next week I plan on putting out some wedding day tips in story form that I hope will be of a resource to other photographers as well as couples who are planning their weddings.

One thing I recommend to all couples is to do a first look. There are several reasons for this. First off, even though almost 100% of my clients are super chill and laid back, it seems that almost every bride and groom carry a little tension on their wedding day - and the only thing I’ve noticed that helps resolve that completely is when the two of them are able to see each other. At a first look I literally watch any lingering anxiety just melt off of couples. Secondly, it is super helpful with timelines (especially for winter weddings when the sun sets stupid early). And third, during a first look couples naturally forget that cameras are present, so they are fully about each other, which makes for the most sincere and sweetest photos like this one with
