2025, The Year that kept us on Swivel!

From groundbreaking debuts and record smashing attendance goals.

To canceled programs due to funding cuts and rescinded corporate support.

Or was that just us? 🤔

We stood 10 toes down with every win and every realigned scope with our clients.

“In Pursuit of Joy”…Nailed it! 🧡

This was the guiding theme for Wellness Weekend 2025 and joy, along with education, community, connection, inspiration and a whole lot of dancing was accomplished over 3 fruitful days!

This conference continues to grow as this year, the organization has not only supported Black Women living with MS but have welcomed thrivers with Lupus and NMOSD. More stories shared, more connections made, and a larger community coming together with intention and love. Watching the impact expand for now our 4th year is a reminder of why this work matters so much.

We’re incredibly grateful to continue planning this We Are ILL Wellness Weekend, alongside the visionary and founder Victoria Reese Brathwaite and the We Are ILL team, partners, supporters and those that champion this work from afar. With 2025, we’ve learned that every year gets better, and it’s an honor to help bring this vision to life!

On to the next one…2026 we see you! and ready to go “Beyond Limits”!

Reflecting on those early years when I wore every single hat, with one goal:

…to never do it all alone.

Those first few years were equally rough and rewarding. Look at that baby face, full of ambition and determination ☺️.

Friends and family filled in the gaps back then, and for that I am forever grateful.

Over 14 years, some incredible people have come through Team OTE.

And this 2025 team? They embody our core values daily—managing clients and projects, handling operations, keeping our finances tight, and ensuring we’re protected legally. 💪🏽

I had a vision in 2011, leaving a very comfortable but unfulfilling corporate career, but I never knew how far we’d go.

What I do know? Our team is petite and powerful. 💙

(Shoutout to the bubbles—the Avengers can never be in a single place at one time. Remote doesn’t mean absent. You’re always an instrumental part of this work. 🫧)

Two days. One mission: empowering Black professionals in occupational and environmental health & safety to lead, innovate, and thrive.

The visionaries and founders of BOLD brought together OEHS professionals for real talk on career pathways, emotional intelligence, tech innovation, whole-person well-being, and the power of mentorship.

This inaugural, SOLD OUT, summit was the start of a movement. A space created intentionally for a community that deserves every resource, connection, and strategy to advance in their careers and businesses.

The energy in that room? Unmatched. The conversations? Needed. The connections? Lasting.

Grateful to have partnered with on bringing this vision to life. Here’s to many more years of BOLD. 💪🏾

Transparently… this was a really tough event to push through as I was still fresh in grief and the dates fell over my Mom’s birthday.

The team held it down anytime I needed to take a walk when emotions would breakthrough my professional shell. If you know anything about Impact Weekend, the spirit would move you to tears at a moments notice!

I really appreciated that support, more than they probably know.

Oh one more thing…the 1 of 2 lurking behind the lens, soon became apart of Team OTE, Mr. MIH 😎!

In my “I am rooting for us all to be the best” mood,

I’m reading Unreasonable Hospitality for the 2nd time. 📖
(The flags in this photo? Real implementable gems. I’m picking up even more this round.) did his big one with this book!

As we close out our 2025 season, I’ve been reflecting on all the incredible moments we had the honor to be part of.

But to be fully transparent without tagging anyone 😏, some of those same moments came with the most trying scenarios.

Avoidable obstacles.

Times our partners could’ve shown up for us (and our shared clients) but didn’t.

Moments where WE could’ve shined brighter but didn’t.

So here we are: our season of reflection, relaxation (lord knows we worked our asses off this year), and retooling.

Because as the saying goes, rising tide lifts all boats.

When we elevate how we operate, how we communicate, how we show up and show OUT, we raise the bar for everyone to be at their best.

This book is the reminder: hospitality isn’t just service.

It’s intention.
It’s care.
It’s creating moments people didn’t know they needed.
And providing everything they deserve and more.

If you have, maybe it’s time for a reread.

It’s so Cold in the D…

As we enter into the season of thanks and giving, we’re grateful for the opportunity to support our third Black Innovation Alliance Sustainability Summit, this year we went Midwest to Detroit Michigan at the historic Michigan Central NewLab!

Alongside our dedicated Audio Visual Team and Creative Partners, we transformed completely empty spaces into a full fledged conference hub to set the stage for engaging keynote sessions, thoughtful panel discussions, private receptions, and member collaboration as attendees continue to push through their entrepreneurial pursuits.

We thank all of our dedicated partners that worked tirelessly to bring this 5 day summit to life!
