Boutique Floral Design Studio

To any followers, anyone interested, or happy stumblers, I've refashioned this page from my old design work to my new floral work! Thanks to facebook being a bit wonky, this was the easiest solution to having a space to showcase and update the work on this platform:)

This is now the official home of "c + a studio Floral" or "c plus a floral", an Atlanta based bespoke floral design business. Offering small, tailored bouquets and arrangements for proms, weddings, and special occasions. I also can create custom corsages and unique boutonnieres.

I do my best to support local flower farmers where possible, and my designs start there with what's in season and available.

I'd love to help you gift a unique floral arrangement for any special occasion you have in mind, or even make an every day special:). Hit me up for quotes and timelines!

The pic today is of a graduation bouquet that just left this morning.
Client Requests: sunflowers and pale pinks.
Final bouquet: local yarrow and yellow snaps, other sourced sunflowers, pale pink peonies, green button mums, and some pale pink flower I don't recall the name but appears to be related to the carnation family based on its stem shape and form :) I really love how this unexpected combo came out. Added soft coppery gold ribbon in my signature French knot to highlight the sunflower gold, and to feel a little "celebration-y" for the pending graduation:)

So Thanksgiving and now, the full month of November has passed. I'm fully behind on my faves. (Where did the time and days go?)

With the onset in a few days of my own teen son's pending birthday, got me to thinking about mother and sons. I don't think they get their due in representation. Father-daughters, sure. Seen a lot of those. But not moms and sons.

So, leading up to my own son's birthday, I'll show a few favorite mother-son photos I've snapped. This one stopped me in my tracks.

Friday Fave and Day 18 of images that give back. (its Friday before a holiday week; and I'm feeling generous, so I'll actually give you two.:) One of the coolest senior sessions to-date. Y'all, do not underestimate that early rise for soft morning light. It works, I'm telling you!

So, I'm a tad behind on my daily photos that give back...but today I give you three for Days 15, 16, and 17. And what charming, funny doozies these are...can't help smile and giggle on these...and gosh, was it so hard to choose!!! (You should see the rest!) This was just yesterday afternoon.

A dear, highly creative friend of mine proposed this idea for her personal upcoming holiday card. And boy, did we have fun. But, we always do when we're together, feeding off creativity and her super expressive, contagious energy trio!!

What do you think of this studio concept? totally in love with how they turned out. Best part? Nary an edit. I tried a few - but didn't like how they turned out. Why mess with it if it works?

Day 14 of images that give back...a family love story.

Yesterday was a magical day in that the air was super cold, brisk and clear...and I was fortunate enough to spend time with a dear "old" friend and her family in my homestate. These two families have come together to create one...and their positivity, humor, easy smiles, and familial sense of adventure are contagious. I've been smiling all day.

Couldn't choose just one photo this stime, as they are so multi-faceted and uber expressive...will let the few images show you how it went down yesterday.

Day 12 of images that give back.
Ever know something is "right" just in your gut? When something just works? Yeah. Good times.

I feel the same about images. When I nail a photo right out of the camera technically, my stomach does a little happy flutter.
Then I geek out and study all the settings, lighting, focal points, angle, etc, zooming in and out, and making mental notes for future images so I can do it again, and again. I have worked hard over the years to learn and implement the technical side of photography. So, when all this comes together in one image, I get a little giddy.

From just a few weeks ago as an example...not a single edit. (If only you could see this on my big screen, as it just sings.)

Day 11 of images giving back. I can't stop looking at this pic.

Since it's raining today, made me think about a common question I get when scheduling sessions: What if it rains? I say, hard rain, no...but I actually love misty and gray days, as they create beautiful, soft lighting where colors and textures pop, and there are no hard shadows to deal with.

This image was snapped just this past Sunday. We ended up with mist and some light rain in the middle of the session (and a rainbow to boot!), but look at that light coming in from the right. This image setting is actually at the client request. As an artist himself, he saw the opportunity for the quiet drama, textures, and the intimacy all at once. Makes you wonder what they are smiling about...:)

So, don't fear a gray or overcast day, as look what they can produce!

Anyone feeling a bit festive? I am. See the "party" or "holiday style" lights in the background here? See? Festive.

And this senior should be too, as he wraps up his current phase in education; and looks forward to exciting opportunities ahead...as we all should:)

I really enjoyed this session with this humble, kind, creative soul and his equally lovely and laid-back mother, as we explored PCM on an early Saturday morning (that's the time to go for pictures, people! Low crowds, festive lights, and killer lighting!)
