🏆 The City of Detroit, in collaboration with the Amp Fiddler Estate, proudly announces the official unveiling of “Amp Fiddler Ave” to honor internationally acclaimed musician, producer, and mentor Joseph “Amp” Fiddler, a Detroit native whose groundbreaking contributions to music & culture have influenced artists & audiences worldwide.
The ceremony will take place on Friday, May 16, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the corner of 7 Mile Rd. & Revere St., marking a historic moment & formal recognition of “Amp Fiddler Day” in the City of Detroit.
Last year, the Detroit City Council formally inaugurated “Amp Fiddler Day” as an annual event on May 16th, as an estate initiative.
Amp Fiddler, affectionately known as a “legend’s legend,” has spent decades at the heart of the global music scene, shaping the sound of funk, soul, R&B, hip-hop, & beyond.
His career includes collaborations with an iconic roster: George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Prince, Maxwell, Seal, Tony Allen, Bootsy Collins, Raphael Saadiq, Jamiroquai, Moodymann, & many others.
His work as a solo artist & his signature sound—an irresistible blend of soul, groove, and innovation—have solidified his place among music’s most revered talents.
Beyond his own artistry, Fiddler’s greatest legacy may be his role as a mentor and catalyst for Detroit’s next generation of artists.
He famously mentored & introduced J Dilla to production tools & the industry, igniting a creative revolution that changed the trajectory of hip-hop & neo-soul music.
“His spirit, generosity, & deep commitment to Detroit’s creative community have made him more than a musician—he’s a movement.”
This installation ensures that Amp Fiddler’s influence will be woven into the fabric of the city he loved, championed & his legacy will continue to inspire for generations to come.
Please join Amp’s loving community in a historic celebration of a true musical visionary & hometown hero, whose legacy continues to inspire.
