On June 19, 1865, the last enslaved Americans in Galveston, Texas learned they were free - more than two years after emancipation had already become law. Word had simply never reached them.

That's what Juneteenth commemorates: not just freedom declared, but freedom finally delivered. It's a day of celebration, reflection, and remembering how long that day was in coming.

Today, we honor it.

Stop poking holes in your baked potatoes. Do a poke bowl station instead. 🥢

You know the potato bar. Steam tray, a few topping bowls, a line that doesn't really move. It had a good run.

We built this one for a program in Lisbon last month and people didn't just grab a plate and head back to their seats. They hung around. They talked. They came back for seconds.

That's the whole point. The food stopped being the thing you do between the content. It became part of the night.

Here's a number that stopped us in our tracks: if the business events industry were its own country, it would rank as the 16th-largest economy in the world.

That's from the new 2026 Global Economic Significance of Business Events Study, from the Events Industry Council and Oxford Economics. In 2025 alone, business events brought 1.65 billion people together across more than 180 countries, generating $1.3 trillion in direct spending, and supporting 24.2 million jobs.

People sometimes call it the "invisible industry," because you feel its impact long before you ever see it on a budget line.

We see it a little differently. Meetings aren't an expense to trim. They're where the real work happens. Where partnerships get signed, teams find their footing, and communities get built. That's the part we love most about what we do.

For decades, this has been our work: defining the goal, shaping the experience, and producing the moments that move organizations forward. It's good to see the numbers tell the same story we've watched play out in room after room.

Define. Strategize. Meet. Energize.

WEC wrapped today, and our team was right in the middle of it.

Allyson Wagner and Shannon Jones spent the week in San Antonio doing what makes this industry tick: sitting in sessions, trading ideas in the hallways, and building the kind of connections you can't make from behind a desk.

And Shannon? She took the mic twice presenting Music Licensing for Events and facilitating the MPI Town Hall.

Two stages, one team. We couldn't be prouder of these two.

Fifteen minutes before the doors open.

The audience will walk into something clean. Lights set, screens up, every seat ready. Effortless.

Back here, it's a different world. Bare plywood, stretched fabric, floor marks, cables, beltpacks. A countdown clock with no pause button and no second take.

Everything that makes the front look effortless is held together back here with gaff tape and nerve.

Fifteen minutes. Then the doors open and all of this disappears.

Meetings are visual. Experiences are emotional.

Color is a choice. So is belonging. Proud to build rooms where everyone fits - and proud of who fills them.

Happy Pride Month. 🌈

San Antonio, here they come! 🌵

Allyson and Shannon head to MPI's World Education Congress (WEC) next week, and we love seeing them out there representing.

They'll be making the most of it: the sessions, the new faces, the friends they only seem to catch up with at these things. And Shannon's doing more than attending - she's presenting on music licensing for events on Wednesday at 10:45 AM CT.

Going to be in San Antonio? Don't be a stranger and make sure to say hi!

Today marks one year with Hannah on the DSME team and she's been paying attention.

Swipe through to see what this year taught her. We think her last answer says it all.

At DSME, we live by a simple belief: you're never finished. Neither are we.

Happy anniversary, Hannah. Here's to everything still ahead. 🎉

If you've ever wondered what separates a forgettable event meal from one people are still talking about on the flight home - this is worth your Monday morning (or Tuesday afternoon!) 🍽️

At DSME, food and beverage isn't an afterthought. It's part of how we show up for every program we touch. And that expertise has a weekly home.

Our Senior Director of Global Meetings, Tim Barrett, CMP publishes Off-Menu Mondays, a LinkedIn newsletter drawing on 28 years at the intersection of hospitality and live events. Seven issues in, he's covered working with the chef, reallocating F&B budget, the case for the buffet, elevating your wine program, and this week it was taking your event outdoors.

Practical. Experienced. No filler. Exactly how we approach every program at DSME.
