This weekend, some people are counting burgers. Others are counting covers for 400.

Some are pouring a cold one on the deck. Others are pouring six hundred and staging them before the doors open.

Some are watching the sky for rain. Others are watching the sky for rain and already have the tent contingency printed.

We spent last week at The Don CeSar, and the highlight was watching our team bid against each other – real gavel, an auctioneer – for things like strategic thinking, leadership, and communication.

You learn a lot about people when they have to spend to get what they want. What we learned: the traits we paid the most for are the same ones our clients tell us they hired us for. We value them at exactly the price they do.

We also dug into how each of us approaches a problem, imagined every worst-case scenario we could think of so we can head them off, and mapped where we want this team to be in 2029.

Great food, questions that actually got us talking, and a sail around St. Pete.

The point wasn't the week. The point was everything that comes after it.

Jill has spent decades on programs where the deadline is real and the stakes are high, and she's known for the thing that matters most in those moments: she listens first. Clients trust her because she asks the right questions before she proposes anything.
