Last month's Chinese-American wedding that we handled in North Carolina had a traditional door opening ceremony. One of the games involved a competition between the bridesmaid and groomsmen to see who can moved the most number of marbles using chopsticks.

We went to Charlotte, NC in April to coordinate this wedding for Liri and Jerry at .

This was our first time working in Charlotte but certainly not the last time as we already went back for another wedding last weekend!

Although we are based in Atlanta, GA, we do pack our bags if you want us to work elsewhere. It will involve a travel fee but we understand that having a wedding planner and coordinator who is bilingual in Mandarin Chinese and English is important for a lot of our out of town clients.

Rain came down as blessings from heaven towards the end of the ceremony after touching vows from Angela and Clinton's intimate wedding at .

I think I have a different view on rainy day weddings after these series of amazing photos from . The love and happiness on the couple's faces were evident despite the rain and while I was soaking in rain myself, I felt the strong emotions too and I was also touched in my heart!

As a planner, I think maybe I am becoming 50/50 now for an outdoor wedding when forecast isn't good if I can get cover for the musicians or DJ equipment! :)

I want to introduce myself to all the new people here today with my background.

My name is Joyce Lee and I am originally from Malaysia. Although I have lived in Atlanta for more than 30 years, most people can tell from my English accent that I am from South East Asia.

As a Chinese Malaysian, my first language is actually Hokkien, which is a Chinese dialect but now I don't really get to use it that often except to surprise any Taiwanese clients!

Growing up in a household where English, Mandarin Chinese, Hokkien, and Foochow(another Chinese dialect) were used simultaneously on the dining table, I guess I am used to mixing cultures from the very beginning (yes the Chinese dialects are as different as French vs. English) ! Later on I also learned to understand Cantonese by watching TVB shows from Hong Kong but I don't have the courage to speak it after my husband made fun of my spoken Cantonese when we got married 16 years ago! 🤣

I came to the US to pursue a degree in Finance because I wanted to make sure I could land a job as soon as I graduate (no such thing as gap year back then!) and I did end up starting a corporate job within 1 week of graduation. The job gave me a chance to see the world as I got standby flight benefits and I am glad I get to learn about other cultures and countries.

Growing up I never knew I would become a wedding planner who specializes in multicultural celebrations but God paved the path for me to take that leap of faith to go full time with my wedding planning career in 2023 after working part time for 13 years in this business.

Wedding planner maybe my job title but it is more than a job for me. It is a passion and also a call to serve my clients with humility and to show support to my fellow vendors as we go through each wedding together!

We started 2026 wedding season with a very special wedding because one of my good friends was getting married!

I am so honored that she chose to have her wedding in Atlanta because I am based here and could help her plan a wedding most easily from this town where we spent many of our girls night out together (even though she now resides in Illinois)! This destination wedding actually had 80 out of town guests attending who came in from different states and the Bride's family flew all the way from Seoul!

My husband was asked to be their officiant and my daughter became the ring bearer the day of the rehearsal when the original ring bearer could not make it.

Of course, I could not have enjoyed my time at the reception as a guest if not because of my assistant .k.y who oversaw the setup at Maggiano's and worked seamlessly as the coordinator that day! Thanks for running the show so I can dance!
