Atkinson Heritage Days is finally here! 🥳🎉

Join us this Friday, August 21st, and Saturday, August 22nd, for an incredible weekend packed with community fun! Families can look forward to a vibrant lineup of activities at Veterans Park, including interactive art projects, children's inflatables, face painting, a foam party, and unique animal attractions.

Food trucks and craft vendors will line the streets alongside live music, local cook-offs, auctions, and tournaments.
The night sky will light up with a massive skydiver and fireworks presentation, followed by a live street dance on Saturday.

🛑 Important Road Closures & Parking Updates (Saturday Only)
Parade Route: Watch out for closures along the route starting at Church and Main Street, moving east down Center Street, north up State Street, and finishing east on Exchange Street.
Downtown Block-offs: Barricades will be in place blocking off parts of Main Street, Center Street (hosting the food trucks), State Street, and Exchange Street to accommodate the street dance, bingo, and tournament areas.
Event Parking: The east side of Church Street will be blocked off, but dedicated vendor trailers and parking will be available along Anna Street.
Special handicap parking is located on West Center Street, extending west to the corner of Center and Anna.Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and the whole family out to enjoy the festivities!

Join LRS and community members this morning to learn about the Atkinson Landfill. Stop by Hometown Catering (500 N State Street) starting at 9:00 AM for an engaging informational presentation by landfill experts.
Following the presentation, attendees will be transported to the landfill for a guided site tour. Refreshments will be served, and all are welcome!

We just got notice that this power outage has been delayed and Ameren will be in contact to inform us off the new time soon.

-Charge Devices: Plug in your mobile phones and essential electronics before going to bed.

-Protect Electronics: Unplug sensitive appliances tonight to prevent damage from power surges when electricity returns.

-Keep Fridges Closed: Avoid opening refrigerator and freezer doors overnight to safely maintain cold temperatures.

-Medical Equipment: Ensure all essential medical backup battery systems are fully operational before midnight.

LRS invites all community members to our upcoming Atkinson Landfill Open House on Friday, August 21 at 9:00 AM. Come meet landfill experts, learn about our operations, and get a first-hand look at the site!

Atkinson Heritage Days 2026: Parade Route & Street Closures Info! 🚗🚫

We are getting everything ready for an amazing Heritage Days weekend! To keep everyone safe and ensure our events run smoothly, please take note of the following parade routine and street block-offs scheduled for Saturday, August 22.

🛑 Street Block-Offs & Barricades
Several intersections and streets surrounding Veterans Park and downtown will be closed to normal traffic. Please look out for the red barricades at these key locations:
-Church Street: Closed from W. Main St down to W. 2nd St. (The east side of Church St near the park is strictly blocked off).
-Center Street: Closed between Church St and N. State St to make room for our Food Trucks.
-Main Street / Exchange Street Area: Blocked off near Gordo's Barn, Bagstour, BBQ Ribs, and Bingo setups.

🅿️ Event Parking Notes
-Handicap Parking: Located on W. Center St (near the bike rack, west to the corner of Center St & Anna St).
-Vendor Parking & Trailers: Designated along Anna St and W. 2nd St southwest of Veterans Park.
-Shuttle Route: A dedicated shuttle route will run along N. Church St. near the church.

The Heritage Days Parade kicks off at 1:00 PM
(Lineup at 11:00 AM, Judging at Noon).
