Big news for our Atkinson community—our local Casey’s is moving! 🚚💨

The neighborhood staple is saying goodbye to the old spot and leveling up to a brand-new space. If you need your pizza or fuel fix this week, here is the official timeline for the transition:

🛑 The Closure: The current location at 300 E Henry Street closes its doors tomorrow, Thursday, at 10:00 PM. (You can still pump gas right up until that 10:00 PM cutoff!)

🚀 The Grand Opening: They will officially open the doors at the shiny new building at 301 S State Street this Friday at 6:00 AM!

The absolute best part? The new location is officially 24/7, so it will be ready for you whenever those late-night pizza cravings hit. Let's get ready to welcome them to their beautiful new space this weekend! 🎉

Get ready for the ultimate autumn combo! 🍁

SonRise Bible Church is hosting their annual Trunk or Treat on October 31st from 5–7 PM, and they have the perfect layout for maximum fun.

The candy-hunting happens outside in the fresh air with a parking lot full of awesome decorated trunks. Then, you can head downstairs inside the church to warm up, hang out, and enjoy a FREE dinner! It is basically the perfect pre-game meal before the neighborhood trick-or-treating adventures begin. 🦸‍♂️✨

• 📅 When: October 31st | 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM

Dust off your broomsticks, lace up your sneakers, and grab your biggest candy buckets! Official Trick-or-Treating hours are locked in for Halloween night, Saturday, October 31st, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Whether you are hunting for the ultimate chocolate haul or staying home to pass out the good stuff (we see you, full-sized candy bar heroes!), let's work together to keep the night both spooky and safe!

🧙‍♂️ For our Trick-or-Treaters & Parent Crew:
• Glow with the flow: Grab a flashlight or snap on some glow sticks so you're bright enough to see from space.
• Inspect the loot: Parents, do a quick candy check before anyone dives into the sugar stash.
• The porch light rule: Only hit up houses that have their front lights on!
No light = no candy.
🚗 For our Drivers & Candy Handers:
• Slow your roll: Watch out for excited little monsters who might zoom across the street without looking.
• Light 'em up: If you're open for business and handing out treats, keep that porch light shining bright!

🎃 Calling all Village of Atkinson pumpkin-carvers, skeleton-wranglers, and master decorators! 👻
It's time to dust off those 12-foot skeletons and bring out those tombstones!

The Village of Atkinson is pleased to announce our upcoming Annual Halloween Decoration Contest. We invite all residents to showcase their creativity, community spirit, and ability to terrify the local delivery drivers.
Between Saturday, October 25th, and Wednesday, October 29th, our panel of three-four local judges will be slowly cruising the neighborhood to evaluate participants.

To make the competitive neighborhood rivalry worth your time, prizes will be awarded as follows:
1st Place: $100 gift certificate
2nd Place: $75 gift certificate
3rd Place: $50 gift certificate

Official Entry Protocol: To ensure your home is included on the official judging route, registration is required. Our judges are excellent critics but terrible navigators, so please call the village office to have your address officially added to the list.

Thank you for helping keep our community festive, vibrant, and reasonably spooky. Ghoul luck to all participants, let's make Atkinson look like Halloween-town ! 💀🕷️

🍁 Atkinson City-Wide Fall Curbside Clean-Up Reminder! 🍁
Don't forget to get your items ready for the upcoming city-wide curbside clean-up! Please note each street will receive only one pass, so we ask for your items to be placed at the curb and ready to go. Trucks will not return to a street once it has been cleared.
Here is a quick checklist of the guidelines and limitations:

📋 Collection Limits & Guidelines:
• 10 Garbage Bags: Maximum of 10 bags per household.
• 4 Bulk Items: Up to 4 large or bulk items are allowed.

🚫 Prohibited Items (Will NOT be collected):
• No Electronics or Large Household Appliances: This includes washers, dryers, ovens, stoves, refrigerators, televisions, or computers.

It survived the weather, and luckily, it charged right up and works perfectly. It has a very distinct bunny caseon it.
If this belongs to you or your child, we have it safe, dry, and waiting for you in the lost and found at the Village Office. Stop by during office hours to claim it! (Please be ready to describe the lock screen or unlock it so we know it’s yours!) 🐰✨

Hey, party people! 🎉 Just a friendly reminder that The Red Barn Harvest Fest is postponed due to the weather (booo!), so they're rescheduling for Sunday, September 27th from 10:00-4:00 (yay!). Walk for Miracles & Breakfast Social

🚶‍♂️7:00 AM – 8:00 AM: 1-Mile Community Walk (Take a sneek peek at the route below 🫣)

🥞 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM: Breakfast Social
(Biscuits & gravy, egg casserole, pastries, coffee, and juice)

💰 Registration & Options:
Walk Registration: $10
(Includes FREE admission to the Breakfast Social!)
Breakfast Only: $10 per person if you want to skip the walk and just eat.

UPDATE: This sweet baby girl has found a Fur-ever home 🥰🐱

ATKINSON RESIDENTS AND CAT LOVERS ALIKE-

Is anyone missing this sweet kitten? It followed a child from the trailer park area to the retired Atkinson School. It slipped into the building. We sat it outside, but It keeps coming back inside! It is friendly, so most likely has a family looking for it. 😔
