Earlier this month, we were thrilled to welcome conductor Robert Spano back to Hodgson Concert Hall with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. This was his first time with us since November 2019, so we gave him an enthusistic Bulldog welcome! The performance showcased the orchestra's magnificence on a program including Christopher Theofanidis's "On the Bridge of the Eternal" and Leonard Bernstein's Symphony No. 1 ("Jeremiah") featuring the outstanding mezzo-soprano Kelly O'Connor. The concert's final piece was Rachmaninoff's dynamic Piano Concerto No. 3, featuring returning British pianist Stephen Hough.

Following the performance, Maestro Spano—as UGA's Delta Visiting Chair for Global Understanding—sat down to talk with UGA Composition Professor Peter Van Zandt Lane about Spano's experience with the Atlanta School of Composers . It was a wonderful afternoon of music and conversation!

Last month, Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center brought our 2025-26 Franklin College Chamber Music Series to a close with a wonderful program called "Quintet Revelations." The performance alternated works for duo violin by Jean-Marie Leclair and Giovanni Viotti with those for piano quintet by Anton Arensky and Camille Saint-Saëns.

Del McCoury is a living legend, and at 87 he's still going strong. We loved hosting him and The Del McCoury Band in Hodgson Concert Hall last week as the final concert of our regular season. The show overflowed with humor and musicianship. It was a family affair: Del's band included two sons and a grandson. What a night!
