Last week Lúnasa, a traditional Irish music group, brought a winter solstice celebration to Hodgson Concert Hall just in time for the holidays. The program featured new and established Celtic tunes—all played with proficiency, joy, and humor. We really enjoyed hosting this band at UGA once again!

Last week the Performing Arts Center collaborated with our friends at The Georgia Review to host author Hanna Pylväinen for a reading from her remarkable book "The End of Drum-Time" in Ramsey Concert Hall. A historical novel set in the Scandinavian tundra during 1851, the book was a finalist for the 2023 National Book Award. The event included an insightful Q&A with Georgia Review fiction editor Amy Bonnaffons, a book signing, and a reception. Thank you to all who joined us!

Under the baton of music director and conductor Nathalie Stutzmann, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus recently brought Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 to Hodgson Concert Hall. The musicians showcased this monumental masterpiece in all of its grandeur, majesty, and intricacy. The orchestra also performed two pieces by Bach: Concerto in D Minor for Two Violins & String Orchestra BWV 1043 and Cantata No. 56, “Ich will den Kreuzstab gerne tragen.” The memories of this night will stay with us for a long time to come. Bravo!
