Cycling has a unique way of building community, and these two pictures are of two towns in Western North Carolina where we have had the privilege of getting to know and experience the local culture.

The top picture is Old Fort, NC. Old Fort used to be a manufacturing community but had struggled to find it's place after the industries moved on. It is in the process of establishing itself as a mountain bike tourism destination. The building on the bottom left is an amazing restaurant where we ate several meals in July while helping our friend Ryan Fulton and his company Blue Ridge Adventures with their race. Center of picture is the park where finish line celebration was held. There used to be a house there. It's gone now. Not in frame but would be bottom right, our friend Matt Ross has an amazing bicycle suspension shop.

Bottom picture is taken from a video showing Banner Elk, NC. The picture is specifically over parts of the mountain bike course on the campus of Lees-McRae College where our friend Tim Hall and his staff have had to evacuate their athletes (technically, all students) from campus...many by helicopter. Their return to campus is an unknown.

Other friends in Greenville, Brevard, and the greater Asheville area are struggling with a lack of communication and supplies. These aren't "communties" to us. They are all a big part of OUR community. These are people that we've known for years. People whose contact numbers are in our phones.

Pray for them as they figure out their next steps. As opportunities are made known as to how we as a "community" can help in a larger capacity, I will make it known.
