Gin lovers, this one’s for you. 🪐 🍸The Saturn is unique for a couple of reasons: It was born after the Golden Era of Tiki, and features gin instead of rum.

California Bartender J. “Popo” Galsini created this cocktail for a competition in 1967 featuring gin, orgeat, falernum, and passionfruit.

He didn’t win the competition, but the cocktail was cemented in history as a(n) (inter)stellar Tiki drink.

It was originally named the X-15 after the rocket-powered aircraft, but after said plane had a tragic crash, Popo rechristened it as the Saturn after the rocket that propelled the first Apollo flight into space.

Despite the rain, Tiki Taco Tuesday is still on, from 5 to 10 PM-ish. We are moving the party fully indoors! A few key updates for you:

Don Carne will not be able to make it, but it ain’t Tiki Taco Tuesday without tacos, so we will have a taco buffet from Tacos Los Plebes available. We recommend getting there on the earlier side if you wish to partake!

Kinky Waiki will STILL be playing this evening from 7 to 9 PM. We are moving the party inside, so you can enjoy exotica beats in Robertson Hall.

SALSAthens will be dancing in Robertson Hall both before and after Kinky Waikiki, and during a short set break.

While the weather isn’t quite as severe as a hurricane, we hope you’ll enjoy a hurricane (the cocktail) with us in the spirit of our not-quite-a-hurricane party.
