Have you ever been to a street festival where the whole town comes out to party? There's funky music blasting, people are dancing, eating good food and having a great time. While we're not actually "on the street," that atmosphere is what the Groove Street Festival is all about. We're bringing bands and artists from all around the state to the Dairy Barn in Athens, Ohio to have one huge festival.
The Dairy Barn Arts Center is a converted barn built in 1914 that has been turned into a gallery and community arts center. Groove Street Festival is taking place behind the barn on their spacious and beautiful grounds. Musically, this is a diverse and polished lineup that you won't see at any other festival. No sets overlap, so you won't have to miss any of these excellent acts. The biggest news of all is the return of Papadosio to Athens, OH for the first time in over a year! Anchoring the lineup and presenting the festival are two of the funkiest bands currently in Athens,First Street Heat and Elemental Groove Theory. We've also got Mojoflo from Columbus (this years headliner of Comfest) and The Pinstripes from Cincinnati (winners of the 2007 Cincinnati Entertainment Award for best world band) as well as 7 other fantastic bands. Check out the full lineup for more information on all of the acts. While Groove Street Festival is NOT a camping festival, we are only a 20 minute walk away from downtown Athens. You also cannot bring alcohol of any kind into the festival, but we are selling reasonably priced beer to patrons over 21.
